I am not a big cream cheese person, however, if you are going to put it on hot dogs, I think the garden vegetable variety would be good. Then add a little lettuce and tomato along with toasting the bread..slice the hot dog and viola, a poor man's hamburger..lol!

How does a hot dog coated with cream cheese which is wrapped in white bread resemble a Lincoln Log?

That sounds like a great idea!! mixing katsup with cream cheese, or even mustard with cream cheese. i think both ideas would make the logs much tastier!! even how about mixing in some dill relish as well. NOW WE HAVE AN IDEA!!!!!!!!!

....white bread & cream cheese....This sounds incredibly bland

Too bad, Varla. About the bun, I mean. I'm dying to try this recipe but I think I'd mix some ketchup in with the cream chesse. After all.....what's a hot dog without ketchup?!

jessipe, you can cook up the chicken hot dogs and slice 'em into rounds and use them as treats in doggie obedience classes. That's the only use I've found for them. Even my cats won't go near them.

I think I would rather intricately construct a little log cabin like lincoln log toys than eat a hot dog with cream CHEESE on it! Maybe its me, I've never tried it. Also, I accidentally bought chicken dogs thinking they were regular hot dogs- on sale. Would not recommend them. Yuck! You can fry them till they're black, but still taste mushy and uncooked. Sorry gotta go, getting a gag reflex...

This hot dog dish is a New Jersey Italian-American classic. It is made with white bread, not buns. You lay out a slice of bread, spread cream cheese on it, and split a cooked hot dog lengthwise placing each half, cut side down on the spreaded bread, about a half inch apart from each other. You can add whatever other condiments you like. You should make at least 4 of these to really get that Lincoln Logs look.
I suggest a nice Valpolacella with these tasty treats, but not for the kids..

My grandmere often talks about the Great Food Renassaince of the 50's. She was one of the first to suspend both cow tongue and canned mandarin orange slices in flavored gelatin, along with shredded carrots and slivered almonds. She bagged herself the most eligible bachelor in Arkansas with that trick!

I'm not sure if you are serious or what, but hot dogs and sweet sauces have been popular since the 50's. Recall the Vienna Sausages in grape jelly appetizer.
