there are lots of free coupons that can be instantly printed at iluvdeals.com I go there before I shop, alot of the coupons can be printed another time at the beginning of each month, but I have saved a lot of money this way and not even having to wait for a sunday paper or insert, can print them anytime!

here is another great link for printing out coupons, just check off the ones you want & print & shop.

I shop with a list as well. I keep a spiral steno pad in the kitchen and add items as I use them up. A quick inventory of the cupboards and the fridge/freezer the night before I go shopping gives me an idea of what gaps I have.

Earlier in the week I clip and file my coupons. I look for ones that are close to expiring and for items on my list. The ones that I am sure to use are clipped to the list, and the ones that are expiring are kept to the front of the file. Sometimes when I know I won't be buying the item, I'll leave the coupon on the shelf for someone else to use. Share the wealth!

I also get online and check out the weekly ads of the two grocery stores in our area and make out my menu and grocery list from there, and I clip coupons from the Sunday paper.

In addition, our grocery stores offer "fuel perks", cents off gasoline for every so many dollars spent in the store. So to take organization a step further, if you are planning to make a trip to Home Depot, a local restaurant, spend a night in a hotel, etc., buy a gift card at the grocery store and get the credit for money off gas.

My rule is only keep the coupons for items we really will use. I'm not particularly hooked on brand names for many items so I'm willing to try a new toothpaste if it's a good deal, but only if I need toothpaste.

There are a number of Internet sites that offer free coupons, but honestly, I find the Sunday paper is still the best source.

I've found that two things help me keep my shopping costs down. I always shop with a list and, because I normally shop at a supercenter with all kinds of temptations, I limit my time. Setting a time goal inside the store keeps me focused on getting what I need, not checking everything out.

My new organizational shopping goal is to end up with a nearly empty fridge on the day I shop. Thursday nights are "use up what's left night."

I use coupons whenever I can find them. Does anyone have any tips for finding coupons? Thanks for your help.

Inventory what's on hand in the pantry, fridge, freezer and make up monthly dinner menus with what's already on hand. Use the bulk of the current month's food budget for stocking up on sale/rock bottom items. These items then show up in NEXT month's dinner plans.
I also intentionally cook a big meat dinner on Sun, which provides me planned overs for another meal in the upcoming week. Tonight's stroganoff over egg noodles used up the gravy and planned over roast from the other night. Steamed summer squash and butter/sugar corn rounded out the meal. Healthy, budget food.

Being organized

Posted: Aug 5, 2008 7:33 PM
Getting organized is a good way to cut shopping costs. My food store sends me an email of their circular on Sunday and I plan my meals for the week, often acccording to the week's sales. I know before I shop what I will need to prepare those meals. Of course you need to have lots of staples on hand and this becomes easier with each week you do this. I also print out a blank calendar for the Month and post the meals I will be cooking each week so my family knows what to look forward to.
