Hi There
When it comes to camping, I love to cook. I guess it is the whole open flame thing. Even my Hubby, who does not cook often always cooks breakfast, and yes, that is eggs, bacon and toast, over the open flame. I will admit it takes a little longer but it is well worth it.
These are some of the things I do when camping.
Steak or chicken Fajitas -pre-cut and freeze steak or chicken with marinade, pack in cooler, (when thawed) put in tin foil to cook, or my Hubby made a large grill top for fire pit, I sometimes cook use an old pan on that for stir-frys -Cut up veggies (before or at sight, I do it on site), toss with spices and olive oil, wrap in tin foil throw by flame or on grill, turning often to prevent burning -Heat wraps and eat. -I have sour cream (if possible)and salsa on hand
Shrimp -Mix marinade and shrimp in bag, pack in cooler (could freeze and use later) -When thawed, thrown on skewers and hit the pit.
We bought a cast iron 'pie maker' from a camping store and they are amazing. I have made apple and cherry pies, grilled cheese and pizza pockets in them. Go for the cast iron and not the aluminum...much better that way.

This is the best camp food I have ever had...you could substitute just about anything and it would make it great. It too, is wrapped in tin foil and cooked over the fire.
HOBO BURGERS 1 hamburger patty Tater tots Veggies (frozen or fresh peas, broccoli, fresh onions) Salt and pepper
Be careful when you make it...most of the time when I make this my eyes are much bigger than my stomache!! and smell makes you absolutely ravenous!!!!

Michelle, I have a little suggestion for Kraft. This summer, I think it would be awesome to have a section on the KF site for camping. Maybe have tips for food safety, cookine recipies, preparing directions for fresh fish.

My son is a Boy Scout. They go camping at least once a month. I have noticed they are eating a lot of junk and hot dogs....... don't get me wrong I like both but I would like to have them try something healthier and maybe a little creative. They are all 10 and over and they are aloud to use knives. They use Dutch Ovens frequently. They know how to make Eggs In Bags... I figure if I can print out a menu with an approximate number of people it will feed and cost they might try something new.
Do you have any ideas?
