What about the evaporated milk "whipped Cream".......has anyone tried this? I have thought about it but not sure if that works well. I would think it is healthier then heavy cream.

Pour milk into a metal mixing bowl. Place into freezer along with beaters. Let stand until milk is slushy,30 to 45minutes. Remove skim milk and beater from the freezer. Add gelatin and remaining ingredients. Beat at high speed until it forms soft peeks. Cover bowl and chill at least 20 mintues before serving.
I use this as a fruit dip and a filling for cakes and pies I hope this helps, if you have not already made the the pie.

ok. vanessa. thats not whipped cream. thats 'almost' a recipe for a 'butter cream frosting' recipe for a cake. i am not trying to be argumentative, but that is not whipped cream in any form.
youre also saying that this is 'better for you'. 2 sticks of butter? OKAY PAULA...
sorry, vanessa. that is NOT whipped cream.
the heathier version, although not very healthy, would to make it from scratch. ... heavy cream and sugar.
there is no healthy alternative to the real thing. period.

Hello Jen,
This is a recipe for heathier low-fat heavy cream. In order to make a whip cream you need to cook the milk, flour, and cornstrach bring to a boil remove from heat and cool. Cream 1 cup of powdered sugar, two sticks of butter and some vanilla until fluffy and add this back into the milk and flour.
Yes, I do use this recipe because it is more healthier that using high saturated fat regular whipping cream that you buy in a store that is made for whole cow milk.

You are better off using: 1c.low-fat milk 2 tbsp.cornstarch 1tbsp. flour I would whip this all together for a better low-fat healthier alternative

The only totally non-chemical substitute for Cool Whip or Dream Whip is whipped cream. You would have to consider your own diet and any dairy restrictions, but that's the optimum substitute.

I know that heavy cream is low carb, but it is also full of saturated fat. I would just use FAT FREE cool whip. You're not saving yourself any healthy benefits!

Unfortunately, if you want to use something "real" you're taking about heavy cream. Very calorie ladden and you'd also need to mix in a stabilizer. We have several diabetics in my family and we often use Dream Whip. To find this product, you can go to the company's locator page:
http://productlocator.kraftfoods.com/kraftfoods/productlocator.htm
on the pull down menu go to "Desserts" then "Dreamwhip"

healthy cool whip replacement?

Hi Arlene,
I would like to know what changes I could make to recipes that use cool whip? I just received the new raspberry sensation recipe and it looks fantastic but I don't like using the chemical composition of cool whip. What suggestions do you have for those of us that like to use "real" ingredients?
Thanks so much. Dale
