I read that if you separate bananas so their skin does not touch that they stay fresh longer. So now we always do that and it does work. It keeps them fresher 2-3 days longer than keeping them together. And we can break banana bunches at our stores--so I always buy them in different stages of ripeness so they do not all ripen at the same time.

Get one of those banana trees to hang your bananas on. They are supposed to make them last longer. Or try one of those Green Bags the infomercials make them look pretty good!

I refrigerate my bananas to retard theie ripening. The skin always turns black but the fruit is always unharmed. Great in a fruit salad not good for a fruit bowl. Hope this helps.

I never get my bananas cold. In fact my father in law gets very angry at the grocery if they bag his bananas with something cold. He says they turn brown faster when cold. Also, says his bread molds faster when packages with something cold. ?:|

Is there any way to keep banana skins from turning brown in the refrigerator. I'm in Las Vegas and all my fruit ripens to fast if not kept cold.
