I'd try to double the batch next time eliminating more salt of course. You could freeze the extra soup for another time. Just a thought...

Ava just said what I was going to-- milk, cream, or cheese will neutralize hotness in a dish. For example, most mexican dishes are served with sour cream on the side--for this very reason!

Potatoes don't work for salty or spicy. Or sour or sweet.
If it is too salty or spicy, make up a bit more of whatever it is without the salt or the hot ingredient and mix them together.
Also diary products help cut down on heat.

Potatoes never work. It just acts like a sponge and absorbs the cooking liquid. It doesn't reduce the amount of salt.

I made the pulled pork and orange recipe from Kraft and nobody liked the taste the orange gave the pork juice. I added worcestershire sauce and it tasted a lot better. From now on when I make pulled pork it will be strictly using BBQ sauce.

Well, I don't usually cook anything too awful spicy, but if I get a hold of something that is too spicy for me, I sprinkle salt directly on my tongue. When I first started dating my husband, he made tacos and I accidently got a hold of his chopped jalepenos (I like chili peppers etc, but not jalepenos in any form!!) He cracked up over my running to find the salt shaker and has never let me forget that night.

It isn't often that I make somethig that is too salty or too spicy but it has happened. I have put a potatoe in a ham soup that was too salty but have never had a remedy for too spicy?
What would you do for something you are making that is too salty or too spicy?
Thanks!
