Hi sltinsley,
I would make a slurry --- combine 1 tsp. corn starch with 1 tsp. cold water in a small bowl. Stir until smooth. Gradually stir the slurry into the hot sauce until blended. Stirring constantly, bring the sauce to a boil. Boil 1 minute.

I guess I just always assume Italiano to have tomatoes! Sorry about that. There are lots of ways to thicken a dish but after reading the actual recipe I think I would either make a cornstarch slurry or Lightly dredge the chicken in flour to thicken the sauce. Hope this helps!

Michelle,

Thanks for the link the actual name of the receipe is Saucy Chicken Italiano. Do you have any suggustions on how to thicken the sauce, this is not a tomato based receipe so I don't think adding tomato paste as some other suggested would help.

I agree with adding tomato paste. In my family (all military and retired military so we have lived everywhere!!) we brown our tomato paste for about a half hour. Makes a whole world of difference in taste & texture. This will always thicken your sauce.

You can always try using a little of the starch water from the pasta. I use it when making mac and cheese so I dont have to use a rue. It makes a huge difference. Keeps it a great consistency!

I love this receipe but would like to know how to thicken the actual sauce. If I follow the receipe it comes out thin and runny. Any suggestions on how to thicken the sauce?
