I would think that canned chicken would make really lousy tuna salad, since chicken tastes absolutely nothing like tuna. Just ask Jessica Simpson.

You can buy canned chicken right next to the canned tuna, it makes really good/easy tuna salad.

I've never heard of chicken in a can. I will be on the look out for it.

My goodness, what a lot of work! I just use canned chicken. It's SO much easier and you don't have to be a scientist to figure out when it's cooked.

Hi Cookielou75, Great question! You do need to adjust your cooking time if you substitute bone-in chicken breasts for boneless chicken breasts. Typically, you need to increase the cooking time by about 10 minutes. The best and safest way to tell if the chicken is cooked is to use an instant read thermometer. Chicken breasts should reach and internal temperature of at least 165°F. Here is a link I think you will find very helpful. It is a fact sheet from the USDA on poultry preparation. About halfway down the page, there is a handy chart with approx. chicken cooking times.

Chicken on the bone has more flavor because of the bone marrow and flavors that comes from bones. In my opinion, I would give up that flavor because bones are not appealing to me. Animals eat bones, not people.

Buy chicken breast on a bone. This will solve your problem. It's cheaper too.
