THANK YOU SO, SO MUCH! MY TWO GROWN CHILDREN WERE DOING "REMEMBER WHEN" AT THANKSGIVING, AND MY SON WAS RAVING OVER "THAT CAKE THAT HAD ALL THE CHOCOLATE IN THE MIDDLE". I FOUND THE RECIPE AND WAS SHOPPING FOR INGREDIENTS SO I COULD MAKE IT FOR HIM FOR CHRISTMAS, AND WAS DISAPPOINTED WHEN I COULDN'T FIND THE ICING MIX. NOW THANKS TO YOU, I CAN SURPRISE HIM! THANKS AGAIN.
LINDA

Pillsbury revamped this recipe since it won the bake off before canned crap frosting was invented. Go here and see the "new" recipe.

Thanks! I haven't found the Jiffy in the grocery stores I usually use, and thought they didn't make it any more. Guess I'll have to check out some other stores. I really appreciate your reply.

hey there, have you tried looking where the Jiffy boxed cornbread is? My store keeps the Jiffy boxed products together and they still make the box frosting, that's the kind I use, I think it's better than any pre-made frosting out there. Hope it helps, maybe you can find it there, cause with those ingredients, I don't have an idea on what you could cut down on to make it work.

Tunnel of Fudge Cake...HELP!!!..can't find boxed frosting MIX!

Posted: Dec 1, 2007 10:09 PM
I have an older recipe for Tunnel of Fudge Cake that calls for one box (double layer size) of chocolate frosting mix that is mixed in with the cake batter. I haven't been able to find anything but ready to use frosting in my local grocery stores. The cake is baked in a tube or Bundt pan, and when done it has firm cake around the outside and a thick fudgy filling in the center - thus the name. It is slightly similar to the Molten Chocolate Cakes on the kraftfoods.com website, but with more cake and thicker and less chocolate in the center. Here is the recipe..if anyone can help me figure out how to add and/or subtract ingredients, I would appreciate your help.

1 1/2 cups butter
6 eggs
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
2 cups plain flour
1 box chocolate frosting mix (dry) for two layer cake
2 cups walnuts

With mixer, beat butter until fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then beat in sugar until smooth. Add remainder of ingredients with a spoon, mixing well. Pour batter into tube or Bundt pan and bake for one hour at 350 degrees. Cool in pan for 2 hours. Turn out onto plate and sprinkle with confectioners sugar if desired.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
