I am going to throw my hat in the ring also. Catalina dressing has been a staple in my families kitchen since I was a kid. I used it for numerous favorite family recipes. The new dressing is crap. I wont buy it. Period!

I have yet to hear anyone say they like the new Catalina dressing. Like a lot of you, Catalina was our family's main dressing and the new recipe is horrible. Bring back the original!

Just to be constructive ...
Is there any chance that Kraft Foods will reconsider and perhaps re-release a "Classic" Catalina dressing? Amazon isn't stocking the 16-oz bottles, and two of our local grocery stores have pulled the "new" Catalina from the Kraft area of their shelves.
Hopefully someone at Kraft will listen to the popular following of a grand product that was extinguished, apparently without enough real-world consumer testing.
Thank you!

My family has used Catalina for as long as I can remember. Probably 30 years. We use it on salads, chicken, etc. We are terribly disapointed that it has been changed. PLEASE bring back the old Catalina. The new version is awful.

Just adding our two cents to the HUGE protest about the so-called "new" Catalina!! It absoluetly wrecked our Thanksgiving, and it won't be allowed to mess up our Christmas. FIX IT, KRAFT! Please take a hint. (Remember "new" Coke? ... hmmm?)

I can't recommend any specific brands right off the top of my head, but if you're looking for a Catalina dressing substitute look for anything with 'California' in the name. That's generally what other companies call it.
Having said that though, you might come across other disappointments too. I remember trying some store brand California dressing a couple of years ago. We expected it to be Catalina-like, but it was horrible spicy stuff. Perhaps Catalina has taken inspiration from that particular recipe! That's really unfortunate it has gone that way.

I too just went to all the trouble to sign up so I could voice my opinion. Bring back the old Catalina!!! None of my family will eat this new Catalina. I really thought I got a old or spoiled bottle. No point in keeping it in the fridge, out in the garbage it goes.

I posted this a while back under "homemade catalina"--I swear, it is good!!
This is by far the best dressing that my husband makes. He got it years ago from a restaurant that was known for their catalina dressing. The only thing is it does make a lot! but it does store well. Or you can make half batch. He calls it "Secret".
1 14 oz bottle ketchup 1 12 oz bottle chili sauce 1 cup vinegar 1 cup water 4 cups sugar 1 cup oil 1 tsp salt 1 tsp paprika 1 tsp pepper 1 tsp season salt 3 cloves garlic 1 small onion Blend all in blender (divided, if making full batch) except oil. When blended well, slowly blend in oil till incorporated.

Karen...the Neely's Sweet and Sour Cole Slaw recipe is awesome. You can find it on the Food Network. I don't use as much sugar and cayenne as she does, but it is so good, if I don't bring it to gatherings, I get yelled at.....lol

Thanks Kraft! We had a funeral to go to and it was requested that I bring my Taco Salad. I made a double batch and bought what I thought was Catalina dressing to dress it after the service. IT WAS HORRIBLE!! Everyone was so disappointed. PLEASE give us back the original recipe Catalina and clearly label the bottle. My Taco Salad was killer. All of that food was wasted, no one would eat it. I AM LIVID!!!!!!!!!

okay let me explain here..when I was 2 years old i didn't want to eat anything...so my mother (who I am very mad at now) got me to eat food with Catalina dressing. So I put it on steak, chicken, pork, all potatoes, all vegetables, and I am now 19 years old. I cannot eat half of these foods without Catalina Dressing. I have went to 25 different stores and have not been able to find the original Catalina. This is a disgrace...there was no warnings to stock up or I would have bought out all of my local stores. I need my Catalina back and this new stuff tastes like crap. It tastes too vegetably and nasty. There is no dressing out there that can compare to the original Kraft Catalina Dressing. Please bring the Catalina back or post the ORIGINAL RECIPE somewhere.
Oh yeah and my family has become accustomed to Catalina too...

I thought I had a bad bottle or something the last time I used this dressing on a big taco salad, I had no idea until now that the ingredients changed, I ended up throwing some away because it has a strange flavor we didn't like. that was one of the best dressings... the only similar is Otts dressing here is what it looks like its the Otts original https://www.ottfoods.com/ecommerce/store/comersus_viewItem.asp?idProduct=1
