I tried putting cool whip in lukewarm water and it melted it! It worked for the pie, but it was ruined for topping the pie. :( So I don't think you should put a container of cool whip in water unless you are using it in a pie!

Thanks for the replies, here is what I did....I put the full container in another empty cool whip container with about 1 inch of warm water so that the frozen container was sitting in semi warm water. I changed the water twice when it got cool and viola it thawed nicely by stirring it each time I changed the water. It was very usable in about 1/2 an hour. BTW I was using it as an ingredient in the pie not putting it on the pie and so far it has worked fine, we will see how the pie cuts! Thanks again.

just let it thaw on your countertop. stir it after half an hour to get it going. should be ready in an hour or 2...

if your dinner is in 4 hourd, its pretty easy to spoon it out of the container onto your dessert. only takes a minute...

Is there a fast way to thaw an 8oz cool whip? I need it now or at least within a hour to make a pie that needs to be at a dinner in4 hours. HELP!!!!
