I agree that normally you would be cooking for the adults but I say make the kids happy this day. Finger foods! Messy yeah but that's part of the fun when your such a little kid. I would gear my party to the babies and make things like pb&j cut into cute shapes, oven baked mozzarella sticks cut into small chunks with sauce and maybe chocolate fondu to dip mini marshmallows and animal crackers in. My kids even love broccoli and baby carrots with ranch dip.

My Husbands Birthday is the 27th so most of the time it is Thanksgiving on his birthday! ....But for a child.. Pizza.. if your are doing a Mickey Mouse cake.. do a Pizza shaped like Mickey Mouse... The Thursday before Thanksgiving is the #1 day that people order Pizza. Its just something thats not found on a Thanksgiving Day table...plus you can get it delivered.. No messing your kitchen.. and easy clean up! Good Luck and enjoy!

Here is a site with instructions to make a Mickey Mouse cake from a sheet cake: http://www.easy-birthday-cakes.com/mickey-mouse-cake.html You have to scroll down a little past the ads to see it.
Our local super markets have bakery sections and they can do amazing things if you would like to purchase a cake for the party.

Thank you all so much! Those ideas are great. As far as his likes he LOVES Mickey's Playhouse and loves to dance to the songs. He's a big dancer. I also like the Indian theme too.
I agree... he won't remember it, but I do want him to have fun. So it's probably going to be Mickey's Playhouse. I love doing those cupcake cakes. Are there any Mickey Mouse themed diagrams that anyone knows of?
Thanks again for all your help.
Tara

Unfortunately it seems we tend to get either too caught up in making it a perfect day for our child, or impressing the guests, that we forget that it can be the simple things that makes an event memorable.

Usually can't miss with tonka truck/tool type theme with that age group.

I agree with Eemma. What does he like? Elmo, Backyardigans, Spiderman, Mickey Mouse, Wonder Pets? Let us know his likes and we can try to come up with a menu with the theme. My daughter's b'day is on Oct, and we are having it at the park and serving her favorite foods. What are his favorite things to eat? Of course, if you really want to do something along the lines of T'giving...do an indian party. just a thought.

I wouldn't do it any different because it falls the day before Thanksgiving than if it were another day.
What are his favorite things? My grandson had his second birthday this year and he is really into cars, trucks and heavy equipment, so that made it easy to choose his cake and decorations. (We could have done Transformers or Bob the Builder instead but the construction theme had more choices.) I would keep it fairly simple. Two-year-olds won't remember but you do want it to be fun for him.

at that age he probably wont care. So you will mostly be "fixing" for the adults there. I would steer clear of anything "holiday". My family really likes something along the lines of hamburger/hot dog or meatball subs when any necessary meal falls close to a holiday. Also, try popcorn chicken, mozeralla cheese, ranch dressing on a sub roll top with lettuce tomato or slaw. Super easy and yummy And with that you can add any side you like fries, baked beans, potato salad or anything that he will eat and like

Does anyone have any good ideas about throwing a birthday party for toddler (boy) who's birthday is on November 25, the day before Thanksgiving? I'm looking for menu ideas. He'll just be 2 years old.
