Do you have a theme? For one son's birthday we had a "sea" theme. I cut the ends of hot dogs and boiled them to make octopus dogs. Then served gold fish, and blue jello with sweedish fish in them. We had macaroni and cheese made with shell shaped pasta too. Another son had a "bug" theme, and we made spiders out of mini-cupcakes with licorice legs. They had "ants on a log" and catepillers made out of mini-meatballs and spinach balls. I decorated peanuts in their shells to look like insects, too. We served bug juice over ice cubes with plastic flies frozen into them. I know we had a space themed party too, but I can't remember what I made. I'll have to talk to the kids and get back to you.

My boys always love the "pigs in a blanket" - take a can of refrigerated crescent roll dough. Separate into two large rectangles (there will be an "X" perforated in each rectangle) and cut across short and long ways. You should then have 8 triangles. Separate and place a little smokie sausage or mini hot dog on each crescent and roll up. Bake according to directions. Serve with honey mustard, ketchup or cheese sauce.
An easy fruit dip - combine 1 8-oz. package softened cream cheese, 1 7-oz. jar marshmallow cream, 1 or 2 teaspoons vanilla. Serve with assorted fruits or graham crackers.
Have fun!

Chocolate dipped pretzels go over well with all ages and you can use a variety of different chocolate flavors and pretzel sizes/shapes.

Hopefully I can help....this is something that both children and adults love.... Don't know the exact title of them, but they are fun to make, fun to look at and yummy to eat! They are "Hamburger Cookies"
You will need 1 box of Nilla wafers 1pkg of Grasshopper mint cookies (or if you still have some Girlscout Thin Mints will also work) 1 can vanilla flavored ready frosting. 1 Tablespoon of Seseme seeds melted butter (small amt) Food coloring: green for lettuce, yellow for mustard or cheese, red for ketchup
Mix a small amount of frosting with each color that you would want to use as your condiments on your hamburger. I usually only use the green and yellow. To assemble: For each "hamburger" you will need two Nilla wafers and one Grasshopper cookie. Place a small amount of green (lettuce) frosting on flat side of one of the Nilla wafers and yellow (mustard/cheese) on the other wafer's flat side. Place the mint cookie in between the two wafers and press together. Place a very small amount of melted butter on the top of the "sandwich" and sprinkle with a few sesame seeds and viola! you have a "hamburger cookie". Enjoy!!!

Apple Ladybug Treats
(serves 4)
2 red apples 1/4 cup raisins 1 tablespoon peanut butter 8 thin pretzel sticks
Slice apples in half from top to bottom and scoop out the cores using a knife or melon baller. If you have an apple corer, core them first, then slice. Place each apple half flat side down on a small plate. Dab peanut butter on to the back of the 'lady bug', then stick raisins onto the dabs for spots. Use this method to make eyes too. Stick one end of each pretzel stick into a raisin, then press the other end into the apples to make antennae.

Hi Elizabeth,
I am not sure what kind of creativeness you are looking for, but these are some different/creative snacks I like to serve when having company. I always get asked about the recipes and everyone always loves the foods.
Chocolate Bowls (made with balloons!)
Baked Potato Rounds
Dessert Balls/Trifles (my favorite!)
Ritz Treats
I hope you are able to find some creative ideas that you want to use! I'd love to hear what you decided to make for your party!

Welcome to the community, Elizabeth!
The Kraft site gives a couple of great options for party recipes and party planning. First, you'll find a link above that says Entertaining (link HERE too). It's an entire section dedicated to, well, entertaining.
You could also try putting various search terms in the box above, hit the Orange search button and browse numerous recipe ideas.

Here are a few fun ideas for dessert - http://celebrations.com/article/fun-and-easy-desserts-kids-part-2 cookie monster perfect pizza ( easy and good for all ages), dump-truck brownies (for the little ones), flower fruit sticks (healthy)
I just wrote a blog about mini everything here http://celebrations.com/lifeoftheparty/?p=398
I also love anything that allows guests to DIY, like make your own personal pizza, ice cream sundae bar, or taco stand. It entertains the little one and feeds everyone.
