I sounds like you have the shower well in hand. Pinwheels, flour tortillas rolled up with a variety of ingredients and then sliced, make a great appetizer that holds up well. They look great, too. This recipe looked interesting, but there are a million variations: http://www.kraftfoods.com/kf/recipes/carrot-pinwheels-56993.aspx

Good questions. I am expecting about 20 guests, and I was hoping that a variety of salads and finger foods served buffet style would be sufficient. It will be on the informal side, nothing too fancy, but I still would like it to look special. I'm going to serve cupcakes (displayed on a cupcake tower) in place of a traditional cake. Today I did learn that mom-to-be is was nauseated by some pizza in the office, so nothing like that will be served. Thanks again...

It will be easier to give you ideas for your menu if we know what is expected in your area. Is it going to be an informal event or more upscale? Do you expect to have a sit down meal or would finger foods and appetizers be more appropriate? If we had an idea of about how many people are expected that may help, too.

Oh, yeah! And you may want to check to see if Mom-to-be has any foods she may not want served. There were some foods I couldn't even stand the smell of when I was pregnant...

Baby Shower Menu Challenge

Posted: Sep 25, 2008 10:07 PM
I am hosting a baby shower for a co-worker in a month (my first). Everything is planned, except for one thing: the food. Here are my challenges: I can follow a recipe, but I am not an experienced cook. Also, I'm having the shower somewhere where I will not have kitchen access, so all items will be transported from home. The time of day is 4:00-6:00 PM (kind of awkward, but the only time I could rent the space). I need foolproof, make-ahead recipies that are appropriate for an early-evening fall shower. Recipes that work in a crockpot or chafing dish are even better. Thanks for sending me your best.
