the most simple thing to do for a shower is just be simple. I have given showers before and the best things are finger sandwiches, fruit, punch, veggie tray, cheese tray. The more simple that you make it the easier. It is a big day for the mother to be, so make it un-stressfull for her... she will have plenty to worry about soon enough... good luck and congradulations....

VERY Easy and delicious dip!! 1 Cup sour cream- one cup mayo- a small container of cherry tomatoes chopped up (include the juice in the dip) and a pound of precooked bacon- microwaved for 2 mins, drained and crumbled (after cooled) . Combine all and serve with Ritz crackers. It is sooo easy and delicious!!

I just recently gave a baby shower for my daughter who was having a girl and I had bought Martha Stewart's kit for making pink tissue paper flowers & they looked really nice hanging from the ceiling over the gift table & cake/dessert table. If mom wanted to following the baby shower they could be hung in the baby's room for a decoration.
I had miniature chicken salad croissanwich's, spinach strawberry salad
We had a candybar buffet with a couple of types of candy that guests could make their own favor.(We provided the box decorated w/the baby's name)

Diaper cakes are awesome and look so cute too! They are pretty easy to put together and so much more interesting than just a wrapped bag of diapers. lol

Use lots of Pink Balloons. Make a Diaper Cake (centerpiece) with pink newborn diapers. (and they can be used later) you can Google for directions. They can be simple or fancy but they are very cute.
Check "Dollar Stores" for baby shower decorations some have large choices and varieties. Mini baby bottles with pink jelly beans for each guest. Pink corsage for mom-to-be use baby socks.
Pink cookies, bowls of pink candies assorted, pink punch use cranberry juice drink mixed with sparkling grape juice. Mini pink cupcakes.
Refreshing Fruit Dip 1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese 1 (7 oz.) jar marshmallow creme Mix ingredients together ad one or two drops of red food color to make pink serve with assorted fruits, melons, strawberries, grapes, etc...

I recently had something similar to this as an appetizer. I'm not sure, if my friend used this exact recipe, but it's pretty close and very good: http://www.kraftfoods.com/kf/recipes/easy-bake-cheese-pesto-89952.aspx
I also like making pin wheels for parties. You can make them ahead of time and change the ingredients to fit your guests. They're almost always the first things that disappear.

Just got these recipes from a friend. They are SUPER yummy and you could throw a little red food coloring in the white chocolate fondu to make it pink.
White Chocolate Fondue Ingredients: 1 Cup heavy cream 1/2 stick unsalted butter 2 (12 ounce) packages white chocolate morsels In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine cream and butter. Bring mixture to a simmer stirring constantly. Remove pan from heat. Add white morsels. Stir until melted and smooth. Cool slightly. Transfer to a fondue pot or ceramic bowl. chocolate Fondue 1/2 pint heavy cream 16 oz. chocolate broken in to pieces 1/2 Cup caramel topping 3 T. of your favorite liqueur (she used Bailey's) Heat the cream to a simmer. Pour over rest of ingredients and stir until melted
Served it with marshmallows, cut up fruit, pretzels and cut up pound cake.
