That's the great thing about this community, you get a lot of variation even with a simple recipe.

Come back and let us know how you liked your salsa.

I do a salsa recipe I got from a friend, I turned down the spice a little because my husband can't handle the heat. He does everything to taste so It took me a while to figure out the ratio's that worked for us.
Equal parts tomato and red onion finely diced (use about 2-4 tomatoes since it is just the 2 of us)
1-2 jalapeno peppers finely diced
4 cloves of garlic very finely diced (I use a press for this)
1 handful of cilantro leaves
Juice of 1 small lime

just mix it together and it is really fresh tasting and stores wonderfully. It can also be blended into a hotsauce if your family doesn't like chunky salsa. It is also really good to add corn or black beans to.

Tomatoes (seeded)
Onion
Jalapeno peppers
Salsa peppers
Garlic cloves
Lime juice
Fresh cilantro
Cumin
Black pepper

Put all in a food processor until desired consistency is reached. Adjust the amount of ingredients to your taste.

Hi, I use a really basic salsa recipe, and I add ingredients to taste.
It takes 2 tomatoes, 2 cans of diced tomatoes, 6-12 serrano chili's, 1 onion, 1 bunch of cilantro, salt, and garlic (powder, or minced).

I chop the two tomatoes and put them in the blender, then I add about 6-10 chili's, 1/4 of the onion (diced) and 1/4 of the cilantro. I add a spoonful of garlic and salt and then blend. After blending I add one can of diced tomatoes and blend again till mixed in, but still leaving salsa a little chunky. I then taste and add more chili's or diced tomatoes depending on spicy-ness.

I too make more of a pico de gallo but it's so easy. It's a crowd pleaser and keeps for a few weeks in the fridge.

6 fresh roma tomatoes diced finely without the pulp or
seeds
1/2 sweet onion finely diced
2 cloves roasted garlic chopped
1/2 cup shredded cilantro
3 jarred jalapeno rings finely diced
1 tablespoon of liquid from jalapeno jar
dash salt and pepper

I can tomatoes in the summer, making a stew. Using tomatoes, red onions, celery, garlic, red bell peppers, amounts can vary per taste. This is my basic sauce for spaghetti, chili, and salsa. Just add as much spicyness that you like with a pinch more. This may have alot of juice for a salsa recipe, just drain and mash stewed tomatoes, or whole mixture can be cooked down to right thickness. This recipe is one to each accords, and works wonders

I make a fresh salsa called pico de gallo. It's more of a proportional recipe so you can make as little or as much as you like. This time of year, the only tomatoes that seem to have a taste are the grape ones, but it's really the best when tomatoes are good in the summer.

-Equal parts chopped tomato and chopped red onion. Pieces should be small enough to easily pick up with a chip. I usually base the amount on what happens with one red onion.
-Serrano or jalapeno peppers, seeded and finely chopped to taste (the seeds and the white inner ribs are hot but also bitter. Better to add more of the green flesh if you want it hotter)
-@1/4 cup chopped cilantro leaves for about 3 cups of salsa or to taste. (cilantro varies a lot in taste and strength, so be conservative and then add more)
-Fresh lime juice
-Salt to taste

That's it. It will last 2-3 days, but best the first day.

This is the best recipe I've come across. I grow a garden primarly to make this salsa! Its really that good! And no, I didn't make up the name. :)

Best Salsa Ever
8 c. large tomatoes, diced
3 sweet onions, chopped
4 jalepeno peppers, diced
12 oz. tomato paste
1 c. cider vinegar
1 t. salt
1 t. minced garlic
1 t. black pepper
2 beef boullion cubes
1/4 - 1/2 c. sugar (to taste)

Combine ingredients in large pot on med-high heat. Stir constantly and bring to slight boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour. While still at near boil pour into canning jars and seal.

Easy-bo-cheesie! Doctor it up anyway you like, I like to add more jalepenos and some green and red bell peppers. I'm also heavy-handed with the black pepper. And don't skip the boullion, it sounds weird, but it gives it a really good flavor!

My family really enjoys this Fresh Salsa .

2 medium size cans 14.5 oz of diced tomatoes
1 medium bunch of cilantro
1 medium sweet onion
3 Jalapeno peppers ( no seeds or stems) More for hotter salsa.
2-4 cloves of garlic
2 Tbs of lime juice
salt to season
I use a food processor. It makes chopping a breeze.
Add onion, garlic, and peppers. Process for short intervals until chopped. Put this mixture into a large holding bowl. Next process cilantro with some of the juice from the tomato cans. Place this into the holding bowl. Process one or two seconds the tomatoes. Now mix all together in the holding bowl and add the lime juice and salt to season. Cover and refrigerate. This makes a very large batch. The salsa tastes better if made a day in advance. Enjoy!
