Hello Kraft Community, we are very excited to share some great news with you. As loyal Kraft Community members we have heard your desire to do more fun things in the community and we are happy to announce in January 2010 we will be making some changes so you can connect and share food ideas in more ways than ever!
We want to let you know we will not be transferring the existing discussions to the new enhanced message boards so if there are discussions that you would like to save please make sure to either print them or copy and paste into a document that you can save to your personal files.

my dad handed down a dutch oven to me, but I've never used one - got any good recipes or know a link with good stuff?? falls the greatest time for cookin' 'round the fire

Canned potatoes and ketchup is always nice. You can spice it up with some black pepper or cumin.

we did a similar thing growing up. on the foil, potatoes, s&p , then onions, then parm and butter. repeat 2-3 times and completely cover with more foil. . cook until pots are fork tender. yummy stuff

Invest in a Dutch oven. The biggest isn't necessarily best, depending on the size of your party and the items you wish to cook. Check your local library for books on Dutch oven cooking before buying. Buy the best brand you can afford (I recommend Lodge). Then experiment and have fun!

that sounds great !!!! I LIVE FOR CAMPING and cook all kinds of things while I'm out there, I've always brought the eggs and everything needed to prepare them this will make my fog-headed mornings WAY EASIER !! and I can be boiling water for my coffee at the same time - you're wonderful !! any more easy quick ideas? I know my kids have always liked having taco salad, a little different from the ordinary camping food, and I fix everything ahead of time and package it all up separately so when it comes time for dinner, all you have to do is heat up the meat - easy is always soooooooooo good especially when your outdoors to enjoy it, not spening the day preparing, cooking then figuring out how to clean all of your pots and pans you've used. One thing my husband always requests when we go camping is my country style ribs I put them in a gallon ziplock 3 days before we go with bb-q sauce spices and some beer, squeeze out all the air and they're good to go when we are and no dishes- good!!

I know this is too late for Labor Day but keep it on file for the next camping trip: Ziplock Omlet Breakfast Ingredients: 2 eggs 1 ziplock bag omlet fixin's (like green onions, green peppers, mushrooms, bacon bits, sausage) Cheese Pot of boiling water
Directions: Have guests write their name on a quart-size Ziploc freezer bag with permanent marker. Crack 2 eggs (large or extra-large) into the bag (not more than 2) shake to combine them. Put out a variety of ingredients such as: cheeses, ham, onion, green pepper, tomato, hash browns, salsa, etc. Each guest adds prepared ingredients of choice to their bag and shake. Make sure to get the air out of the bag and zip it up.
Place the bags into rolling, boiling water for exactly 13 minutes. You can usually cook 6-8 omelets in a large pot. For more, make another pot of boiling water.
Open the bags and the omelet will roll out easily. Be prepared for everyone to be amazed.

Me too. I put the hot dog on first and then stick on baked beans, one at a time, very carefully. Delicious!

Eat marshmallows. They make some called Campfire marshmallows. Get those ones. It is fun to grill them over the open fire.
