Are you sure you typed this up correctly?
First of all, I think you meant 2 pkgs (8 oz each, NOT16 oz each). Each chocolate square is only 1 oz, not 2.
Also, are you sure that's the right amount of flour? My dough was really runny. I kept adding more and more flour. Then they turned out ok.
Thanks for sharing, though. Ü

If you're on this site you are probably interested in fast and easy. My number one cake filling is a mousse filling. (From one of the canned frosting company's web sites.)
1. Pick your flavor of canned frosting. (Not whipped.)
2. Thaw a tub of Cool Whip.
3. Fold together.
4. Enjoy the compliments from your guests.

These days something as simple as a sinful dessert can bring smiles, this is a perfect time for a thread like this. =)

Everything sounds soooo good! I am an absolute chocolate fiend, so there is no such thing as too much chocolate in my book!

What I find hilarious is that in one week, this thread has over 1,000 views...apparently I'm not the only one who drooled over the title!

I know you said there wouldn't be too many people, but I just got a craving for hot fudge chocolate sundaes with brownies, of course! Maybe you could make a sundae bar with a lot of various chocolate toppings!

I love this recipe, although I don't think I've heard it called by this name, but then I think my much smudged recipe card has no name on it. I love trifle-like desserts for a party because they look great in the bowl, they are easy to serve and also easy to serve a small amount. The down side is they are really delicious and it's also easy to go back for seconds.

I have the perfect recipe...Death by Chocolate Cookies.
Unbelieveable! Let me know if you would like the recipe.

Even if you don't put them out for snacks, you could always give them as a "Thanks for Coming" gift when they leave or if your hostess likes to play games, use them as prizes!!

Okay, here is the recipe for the cake-it will serve several people because a small slice is very satisfying!

CAKE

INGREDIENTS:
2 eggs, separated
1 1/2 cups sugar, divided
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cocoa
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 cup buttermilk
+
CHOCOLATE CREAM FILLING (recipe follows)
+
CHOCOLATE GLAZE (recipe follows)

STEPS:
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans. In a small mixer bowl, beat egg whites until foamy; gradually beat in 1/2 cup sugar until stiff peaks form. In a large mixer bowl, stir together remaining 1 cup sugar, flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt. Add oil, buttermilk, and egg yolks; beat until smooth. Gently fold egg whites into batter-batter will have streaks. Pour batter into prepared pans. Bake 25-30 minutes or until cake springs back when lightly touched in center. Cool for 5 minutes; remove from pans to wire racks. Cool completely. Split layer in half horizontally. Prepare CHOCOLATE CREAM FILLING. Spread cake layer with 1/3 cream filling; top with second cake layer. Repeat procedure ending with plain layer on top. Prepare CHOCOLATE GLAZE; glaze cake. Refrigerate; store leftovers in refrigerator. YIELDS 8-10 SERVINGS

CHOCOLATE CREAM FILLING

INGREDIENTS
2/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup cocoa
1 1/2 cups cold whipping cream (heavy)
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla

STEPS:
Combine sugar and cocoa. Add whipping cream and vanilla; beat on low speed to combine. Beat on medium speed until stiff.

CHOCOLATE GLAZE

INGREDIENTS:
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
3 tablespoons light corn syrup
1 tablespoon water
1 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate chips

STEPS:
In a small saucepan, combine butter, corn syrup, and water; place over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture begins to boil. Remove from heat; stir in chocolate chips until melted. Cool to room temperature.

And the most important step? Do not EVER let any one figure out the calorie count of this cake!!:^O:-x
