Cay, I love to make fried balogna/liverwurst sammies. The liver melts all over the bologna and makes it twice as good. My husband likes heat so I make his with horse radish. STAND BACK!! My kids and I like it with ketchup or Russian dressing. The foreign dressing adds a nice flair to the mix.

Yes. We love bologna and eggs sammies. If you cut tiny slits around the edges and weigh each slice down with anything you can use as a weight, a can, a bacon thing, an iron, etc., you won't get that unsitely swelling.

When my children were younger, they loved hot dogs no matter how they were cooked or served. But now, they are so much more sophisticated and particular.
I now grill the franks and add steak sauce to them. This works. My older kids thinks they are getting a gourmet meal!
I also like to hide hot dogs in things like casseroles and salads. Use your food processor to grind them up and then make hot dog hamburgers. People will think you are a real chef!
I tell them that bologna is from Italy and is a delicasy. They love it rolled up with cream chesse in the center. So delish.

I either cut it from the center out so it fans open or I use my cast iron press to weight it down while it fries

Sorry but there's no way hot dogs taste as good as steak no matter what you do to them! LOL

Word. Fried baloney is a great hangover cure too. You need to use a lot of hot sauce, though.

Hot dogs and baloney are made with all kinds of animal entrails, chemicals and sodium. I let my kids eat hot dogs once in a while, but not very often. There are so many other great things to serve kids that are cheap -- even meatless meals are a big hit in our house!

Starting in May and throughout the summer, my son and I will be on a super-tight budget while I get ready to go back to college, so I think I may introduce him to fried bologna and... hot dogs. He's almost 4 and never had a hot dog. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but darn it! He's a kid and kids should eat hot dogs!!! I'm a horrid mom lol
