I AM SOOOO MAD!!!!!!!!!!!X-(
I packed our lunch before the game, we ate in on the way, kids unloaded the sandwich container for youngest (always pack hers seperate due to allergies), put container on the table and the STUPID DOG got it off the table and chewed one end up. I would love to beat her (not really, I am just angry). If she didn't have pups and it wasn't so cold, I would throw her butt out and forget about a therapy dog!X-( Yesterday she got in the chocolate chips I had just opened to make cookies for the game. SO no cookies, now no container X-( BAD DOG!

I have the same problem with remembering to take the reusable bags INTO the store. I always try to put them in the front seat next to me, on top of my purse. They really are great. They're bigger and sturdier and I have two that are insulated which are great for the long drive home, especially in summer.

A couple of years ago, Bed, Bath & Beyond had a sale on plain white napkins. I use these most days, and just soak and bleach them with my other grungy whites, and they work great for messy meals. I keep thinking they'll wear out from the hard use, but they've lasted amazingly well.

We're working on that here, too. I switched to plastic containers for all lunches, including reusable drink boxes; we've totally stopped purchasing bottled water- every family member has an aluminum or steel reusable bottle to carry around; I have reusable plastic plates, cups; and we use cloth napkins on most days. I try to remember to bring reusable cloth bags to the grocery store- but I do often forget (luckily I can either reuse the paper kind- or recycle the plastic, which helps). But we still fall down a lot. I just can't bring myself to use the cloth napkins if the meal is going to be really messy- and sometimes I just don't feel like even washing plastic dishes. I guess it's all about the effort, though!~

I no longer have to worry about sending lunches, but I'm trying my best to cut down on baggies, paper napkins and paper towels. We've really gotten lazy where convenience is concerned, especially with paper products.

bought my daughter one when a local chain grocery went out of business for under 50 cents. I like it because she can keep her sand. inside the container on the lunch table and it is alot cleaner than laying it on the baggie that has already touched the table. (I know I am a germ freak :), but it is a must with a special needs daughter)

I remember using those when I was a kid. We've gotten used to the 'convenience' of baggies, but you're very right, spending a few dollars, and reusing, saves money and the environment.

Good tip!

i went out and bought the re-usable sandwich containers instead of using plastic baggies. save me on money for buying sandwich bagges and he loves the fact that they have a design on the front. spent maybe 3 dollars on 3 of them.
