the most grisly food experience my DH had, was in eating a can of sardines -- not purchased at Wal-Mart -- that had a rusty nail inside.

My worst food experience was eating raspberries from South America (I think Chile) a few years back. Even though I washed them, I picked up a nasty bacterial infection. A few days later there was a national warning, but I was already sick. It definitely taught me to read labels and to buy seasonally.

That's not a Wal-Mart issue, but an issue with the company that processes/packages the food for sale. You can usually find the company name on the back of the packaging. They would also be the folks to contact about the problem. You would also need to contact Wal-Mart to let them know the issue the packaging company had so if they see a consistent problem, they can rectify it.

I agree with you gffgd! On our local news about a month ago a lady purchased a bag of frozen green beans to cook for her kids lunch from Wal-mart. However, when she opening the bag to prepare lunch for her kids, she found the head of a green frog inside the bag. It turned my stomach!! From hearing this episode I no longer buy frozen veggie at Wal-mart.

It's a good way to practice willpower! Or torment yourself. =D

Let me add my welcome, pennymomof3. I know what you mean about shopping. We moved to Arkansas from San Antonio where we lived very near down town. Every kind of shopping and take out you could imagine was just minutes away.

Now, I'm like you, every trip takes effort and you really think twice before you make a second trip in one day. We went from eating out or take out a couple of times a week, to eating out a couple of times a month if I'm extremely lucky. :)

I'm lucky, we have a Wal-mart right next to my grocery. I can shop both for sales at the same time.

I "cherry pick" when it comes to my shopping list. I go through all the sale papers for my local grocery stores, and decide what I will purchase( and cook for dinner the next 2 weeks) based in the sales circulars. Since none of the stores are any more out of my way than the other (we live in the boonies- 6 miles from the closest convenience store and 14 miles from the nearest grocery store) I go to each amidst my travels and keep a cooler for the perishables. It took a few weeks of living here for it to sink in that I had better not forget anything important on my list, since it's a major waste of gas/money to have to make a special trip to get what I missed the first time.

The problem with Wal-Mart is there is too much temptation. Many of there specials are cheaper than other groceries, but not always. I live in Wal-Mart country and the other large chains don't come here, so I don't have much choice, but I never buy meat there, and I often shop at one of the local stores for their sales, specials and meat.

I hope you come back on!!!! Try this. I get coupons in my paper, but I also order from www.couponclippers.com. You can't charge for coupons, but she charges a small processing fee for clipping them, organizing and posting them on her site. She is SSSOOO organized. Go on there the day you get your ad so that you have time to get them before your sale is off. Look in the FAQ's and there is an order/ship date list.

I just did this with Kraft shredded cheese coupons. I didn't get them in my paper, but she had some and they were 1.00 off one package.

My store Kroger had it on sale for 1.99 a pkg

If I bought 10 pkgs I got 5.00 off (1.99x10=19.90-5.00=14.90)

Minus my coupons (14.90-10.00 (1.00 each)= 4.90)

I paid .08 each for the coupons so I really paid 5.70 for 10
2-cup packages of shredded cheese or (.57 a pkg)

I saved 14.20 off the sale price/10 and 19.20 off the regular price/10 (2.49 each).

SO WORTH THE SITE!!!! and they are regular coupons, not computer print outs so you don't have to worry about your store giving you a hard time.

Good luck!
Couponing is ADDICTIVE!:O

I think it depends on what you buy there. For staples, I go there. Things like bread and milk are MUCH better priced there than any stores in my area.

For everything else, I hit up Kroger or the huge international market near me.

I am glad you two think that Walmart is cheap. I on the other hand think Walmart is a very expensive place to buy groceries. The last time I bought groceries at Walmart I spent $130.00 and that was with coupon savings and other store ad price comparison.
