I never have left over chocolate b/c when baking little fingers (and big ones) keep finding their way into the bag until it is empty. If I'm craving chocolate I keep a box of a really good dark, individually wrapped chocolate around so I can have a piece without opening a whole candy bar. Then I read the fat grams to keep me from eating another peice.

Maybe it's just mental, or maybe I'm just mental (lol), but when I get my chocolate fix from the chocolates meant for baking, I feel guilty, because they were supposed to go in cookies or whatnot.

So not only do I eat less because I'm not keeping big candy bars around, but the guilt factor really cuts down on the desire to want to dig into them, too.

Sky, the secret is out. I don't keep candy around, but if I ever have a big craving for chocolate, I dip into my bag of dark chocolate chunks. LOL

Did you know that many of your favorite chocolates you can find in the baking isle for a heck of a lot cheaper than the name brand, individually packaged stuff?

Of course you did.

Candy-coated chocolates instead of M&M's
Milk chocolate chunks instead of Hershey bars

And the list goes on depending on how big the baking isle is in your store.

What I really like about buying the chocolates I enjoy this way is that:
A) I can eat five or six of the little chocolate chunks and my sweet tooth is satisfied. That equals MUCH less than a full candy bar, so less calories.
B) You can use what you don't steal to snack on in recipes.
C) CHEAP.. well.. cheaper compared to that name brand stuff.
D) Just as good, in my opinion.

You have to have willpower, though. I can't tell you how many times I've had a bad day and eyed one of those bags on the shelf and thought... "chocolate-induced coma... PERFECT."

yeah. they are M&M's. the recipes just say "chocolate covered candies" so that they are not promoting M&M's over any other brand name.
