I use no sugar added pie filling and lean pork. You really don't get hat much stuffing per portion unless you are a big eater. I even use fresh apples and Splenda sometimes. It's healthier than fried food.

I don't understand what's not healthy about the apple pie and stuffing dish. It has fruit in it, doesn't it?

You're not doing your husband any favors health-wise if you serve him that porkchop/stuffing/canned pie filling disaster.

Are you talking about Ketchup?

I would suggest that the best way is to cook tastier food.

Also, why not throw away the ketchup so he can't use it?

The Lasagna sounds great! I will definately try it. I love the crock pot idea so that it will be mostly done when I get home from work. Great Idea.

My favorite pasta dish to make is lasagna. I use extra lean ground beef or ground white turkey. I brown up the meat and add shredded carrots, spinach, onions, zucchini and canned tomatoes. I then add in a jarred pasta sauce ( I like Classico). Let everything cook until it is nice and soft. I like to put mine in the slow cooker and let it go all day. I make sure the veggies are really mushed up so you can't really tell whats in there. Because if it's seen, it won't be eaten. I then layer in the meat mixture with part skim ricotta, parmesan, low fat mozzarella and wheat lasagna noodles, which you can't even see them because they are covered in sauce and cheese ;) My husband loves it. When paired with a simple salad, this makes a really healthy meal. Also I really love the Ronzoni smart taste and Barilla Plus. We can't tell the difference between those and regular pasta.

The Ronzoni Smart Taste is good; as is the Barilla plus (my personal favorite). Neither are 100% WW (the Smart Taste is actually enriched- so it's not true whole wheat at all), but there a nice improvement nutritionally on regular pasta and don't taste really any different (just a bit more al dente, perhaps, which I find to be a good thing). The Ronzoni Healthy Harvest is good, but it's definitely a true WW pasta- which your husband will likely notice (my did). The Smart Taste has added Calcium; the Barilla has extra protein and omega-3s. I would pick up a box of each; and see which one your family prefers (I would also fail to mention until they're finished eating that you weren't serving 'normal' pasta!)

As for the ketchup thing... I have yet to fix my dad of that awful habit. I've tried cajoling and nasty looks, but it doesn't usually work. So I just don't look. As for my son... I'm manage to convince him that hot sauce is a much better (and cooler) alternative to ketchup. It seems to have worked. If you do the shopping.. you could try not buying it and see if that works. At least for a week or two and see if he can 'break the habit'. You could also try showing him how much sugar he is putting on his food w/that ketchup (it's approximately 1/3 sugar; so 1 tablespoon of ketchup would equal approx. 1tsp of sugar...3T of ketchup (not hard to do) would equal nearly 1T of sugar and 1/4tsp of salt!)

How do I keep my hubby from putting Ketschup on everything? Even when I make something healthy, he puts ketschup on it and tells me that it is just for the added salt flavor but then I ask him, "Why not just use the salt?" Please help!!

Here's what worked for me: I didn't tell him it was "healthy". It seemed that if he heard "healthy or low fat" he would turn up his nose. Now I don't say anything and he doesn't know the difference B-)

My family loves Ronzoni Healthy Harvest wheat spaghetti. I've tried a lot of wheat pasta, and it's the only kind I like. It actually tastes better to me than regular spaghetti. I like the thin spaghetti myself, but the regular and the linguini is good as well!

I make whole wheat pasta and use jarred pasta sauce and add veggies, ground turkey. My hubby eats it up and usually has seconds.
