Another good site I just found recently is recipetips.com - they have good recipes and a knowledge section too. But the best thing is there isn't a bunch of pop-up windows and ads all over the place!

Wow. I must be living under a rock or something. I never heard of allrecipes.com. I looked it up and that is a really neat site. Thanks for the knowledge.;)

I agree. Allrecipes.com has an ingredient search. You can put in what you have on hand or foods you know your family likes, and it will give you lots of recipes using those things. You can also list the foods you don't want to include. This will give you new suggestions to use your everyday ingredients.

Wow Janelle...abrasive much?

Exactly how was Janelle abrasive??? Someone asked a cooking related question to a message board sponsored by a food company. Janelle simply asked if she has considered looking through the many recipes that ***** has on this website. A legitimate question, IMO.

Another good source for recipes is allrecipes.com

Hope this helps. :)

Here's a variation for your baked chicken & veggies that's easy, quick, healthy, and economical:

Chicken Florentine

boneless chicken breast
fresh spinach (well, package is fine)
swiss cheese
bread crumbs
lemon juice

In a long casserole dish, layer the spinach & cheese with a thin sprinkling of bread crumbs between them. Do this for about 3 layers of the stuff. Put the chicken on top, sprinkle crumbs, lightly sprinkle lemon juice. Bake 350-400 approx. 1 hour. The temperature and time variability helps if you’re making something else in the oven that requires a certain temp.

SocialWorkerGirl: Do you have a crockpot? If not, I highly recommend purchasing one. They are very inexpensive nowadays. I've found it's my best friend in the kitchen. You can toss a meat, some potatoes and a can of cream soup or cheese soup and some spices in first thing in the morning and when you get home from work you just need to plate a meal. You can change it up everyday and experiment - crock pots are pretty forgiving.

Wow Janelle...abrasive much?

I think we can all get stuck in a rut when it comes to cooking dinner. I know that with younger kids I tend to fall back on the same old tired things week after week, simply because I know my kids will eat them. I get tired of trying to make new things only to be told "That's gross." I also work full time so I need things that are quick, easy yet good - ya know?

That's one of the reasons I LOVE the Kraft magazine. I can flip through it when I make my menu and always find good stuff to make. I now have my kids flip through them with me and pick one thing to add to our menu, then I have them help me make it so they have some sort of part or ownership of dinner.

SocialWorkerGirl - This is one of our favories that I am adding to our menu for the coming week. Quick, easy and soooo yummy!!

Beef Noodle Bowl

8 oz. linguine, uncooked
3 cups broccoli florets
3 medium carrots, peeled, sliced (about 2 cups)
2 tsp. oil
1 lb. beef sirloin steak, cut into strips
1/4 cup KRAFT Zesty Italian Dressing
1/4 cup teriyaki sauce
1 tsp. ground ginger

COOK pasta as directed on package, adding broccoli and carrots to the cooking water for the last 2 min. of the pasta cooking time. Drain pasta mixture.

MEANWHILE, heat oil in large nonstick skillet. Add meat; cook until browned on all sides, stirring occasionally. Stir in dressing, teriyaki sauce and ginger; cook until sauce thickens, stirring occasionally.

TOSS pasta and meat mixtures in large serving bowl.

Mrs. R., I can sympathize with you. My MIL is stuck on liver and onions. :_| Not only do my kids HATE it, but my husband and I do too. Plus, it stinks up the house for days. When she leaves, I give it to Brutis, the dog. He loves liver!

I think you can come up with some very quick and easy variations on those if you just look to your spice rack. Roast a chicken with potatoes and lemon pepper. Instead of a hamburger casserole make hamburgers with diced onion and garlic and serve it on a French or Italian roll.

My husband's mother insists on the same Shabbat meal whenever she joins us. It's chicken noodle soup, roast chicken, carrots, mashed potatoes, and a sponge cake with fruit for dessert. But even she will admit that by varying the flavors I am making it a more exciting meal each time. And when the entire family declared boredom with our weekly cholent, I discovered the slow cooker recipes here and on other cooking websites. There is a wealth of ideas out there for you to check out.

Good luck!

Sorry but I don't understand. ?:|
Why does your family have to eat the same things over and over again?

You are on a site with hundreds of recipes already posted. :) Haven't you looked at them?

:^O Is this a real product or did you make up the name because of how a product you've seen looks (or even tastes!)?

I have found my library to be a great ally in the hunt for new ideas in cooking. I look over the available cookbooks, pick one that sounds like I'd be interested in it, and take it out for two or three weeks. I look it over, see what ideas I can take from it, copy recipes that look good, and now I have lots of ideas without spending any money on new books. (I buy a lot of cookbooks, too, but that's after I've fallen in love with the book at the library.) The internet is another great resource. People have suggested websites and I have one more to suggest. This one is a Google based recipe search engine that will find you recipes involving the ingredients you put into the search field. And don't forget that the Kraft search engine (in the upper left corner of this screen) works the same way, but limits you to the Kraft site.

Try varying the cheese you put in your mac and cheese. (If you use the packaged kind, try making it from scratch or using the package but adding real cheese to the mix.) Or add vegetables to it. Or take leftovers and add them to a big salad. The possibilities are endless once you start thinking outside the box (or the can, as the case may be.)

Wow! Do people really eat that?! No offense, but it sounds like a big tub of goo to me! Do you use ketchup?

The Southern Living message board has a ton of great cooks on there. They usually have a daily "what's for supper thread" that could give you some ideas.

Hi There

Try going to www.cookinglight.com. They have a 'quick&easy' section that is just that. I pick up at least 2 recipes a week from this website.

I suggest the Shrimp Arrabbiata, Sautéed Tilapia with Honey-Scallion Dressing (we did not serve with salad, but cooked fish in the sauce and served with brown and wild rice) or Stir-Fried Chicken and Vegetables.

Some of these recipes may look tough with all the ingredients, but they really are quick and easy, not to mention yummie.

Good luck to you!
