keyedup4jc, Made your Banana Split Salad for a pot luck at work today--everyone loved it and wanted the recipe. The only thing I did different was add abig can of well drained pineapple (cuz it was all I had) and about 1 cup of walnuts (cuz I like nuts).

Hi, we use to go camping a lot when the kids were little. One of our favorite meals was hamburgers in foil meal. Take a big piece of foil, place a raw hamburger patty on it, then raw potato slice, & onion slices & a dab of butter on top, season with salt & pepper. Fold the foil into packets, cook on grill or campfire for about 30min. or until the hamburgers are done & potatoes are tender. My brother brought this home from a Boy Scout campout. My family has used this idea for years.

Oooh. those banana boats sound soo good! We make doughboys when we have an open fire. We take crescent rolls or biscuits from a can, wrap them around long buttered skewers and bake them over an open fire till they are golden and puffy, slide them off the stick and we fill them with butter, jelly, marshmallows or mini candies and they are the BEST campfire treat ever... By by smores..

Oh my! We were camping over the summer and a neighbor camper made those banana boats. They are sooooo good! Thanks for reminding me - I might try to make them for an "indoor camping" event. (On a rainy day we get our sleeping bags & pillows, rent a movie and make s'mores in the toaster oven - the kids love it)!

If there will be a grill or fire...banana boats are great! Take a banana and put a slice down the middle, but do not go through it. Fill it with mini marshmallows and mini choc chips. Wrap in foil and cook on grill or over fire for about 10 minutes or until chocolate is melted. When we make these camping, I cut the banana in 1/2 and each person gets 1/2 of one.
We like to take stew and soups in the crockpot.

I like to bring a nice taco salad - just some lettuce, tomato, green onion, kidney beans or ranch style beans, black olives, some browned ground beef (add some taco seasoning if desired). Just before serving add some crushed Doritos & Catalina dressing - Yummy
This one is always a big hit, and easy:
Banana Split Salad (my family calls it "Pink Fluff") 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk 1 carton (12 ounces) frozen whipped topping, thawed 1 can (21 ounces) cherry pie filling 3 medium firm bananas, cut into chunks 1 can (8 ounces) crushed pineapple, drained 1/2 cup chopped nuts Directions: In a large bowl, combine the milk and whipped topping until well blended. Fold in pie filling, bananas, pineapple and nuts. Yield: 10 servings.

I always bring my tortilla rollups to any type of get together. Flour tortillas, cream cheese, salsa, shredded cheese, green onion, olives...add or delete whatever flavor you want. They are super easy you can make sweet ones with fruit (pineapple and crushed walnuts), or spicy with salsa etc.
I also sometimes make a big crockpot of macaroni and cheese, easy to carry, deviled eggs, banana pudding etc..

It's apple season, I bet a nice apple pie would go over well if you want to bring a dessert.

We're heading to the lake this weekend for a Labor Day picnic. I brought the tri-colored pasta salad recipe for the last picnic pot luck. Any suggestions as what to bring to the pot luck this time?
