Pumpkin pie and Fall go together, but I'm having trouble making my Pumpkin Cheese Pie. I can's seem to find Jell=o Instant Pumpkin Pudding mix. Any idea what store in my area carries it?

You know, when I think of Fall, I think of Graeter's ice cream, of all things. They have seasonal flavors and the Pumpkin Spice Ice Cream that comes out in the Fall is absolutely amazing. Pair it with a warm slice of pumpkin pie or pumpkin bread and you're on pumpkin overload.

Tonight is 14 bean soup with a big ham bone simmering in it. Can't wait till it's done.

The mentions of chili make me want chili, but I don't have the fixings for it.
I guess a trip to the grocery is in order lol

This year I have started making fresh bread each week..and it disappears fast!!
I have already made chili, and have everything together for beef stew, chicken noode, chicken and dumplings and more...I cant wait for it to get a little cooler!

Some of my favorite fall foods to cook are soups - potato ham, beef barley, chicken noodle, minestrone and beef stew. I dust off the breadmaker for different breads and pizza dough. Also, with the weather being cooler, I use the oven a lot more for casseroles, roast chicken, pork loin, baked squash and sweet potatoes. Anything made with fresh picked apples - pies, apple cake, crisps, sauces. It's pretty obvious I enjoy fall cooking & baking!

You sound like a seasonal cook to me, too. =) I do the same, mostly because cooking during the hot months, when the garden is coming in, isn't something I often do.

My SO is beginning to believe that I am a seasonal cook (something he scoffed at when we first met). Right now the refrigerator; freezer and cupboard are chuck full of fall delights. We have apartments in the same building but different floors and do all of the cooking in my kitchen. So, his apartment has become the walk in pantry. Squash; sweet potatoes; corn; green and red peppers; beets; green tomatoes; onions; garlic; cranberries; grapes and apples are the stars of most meals right now. Corn relish; apple cinnamon jelly; roasted peppers; bourbon apple and sweet potato; pickled beets; harvard beets; pickled eggs; green tomato relish and pepper jelly are a few of the "put asides" we worked on this past week

Soups and chili. Today I am making a huge pot of cabbage beef soup and there will be plenty for tomorrow's lunch too. We'll have it this evening with some fresh made pepperoni rolls I bought at a church function today.

That does sound like a very old recipe and very delicious. My two favorite fall foods cooked apples and homemade soup.

Anyone else here make “Bone Soup?” My family loves it. It’s really an old fashioned turkey or chicken consommé (a stock made from turkey and/or chicken bones, onions, garlic, celery and carrots that is cooked long enough to become jellied) with fine egg noodles. It is a favorite with turkey sandwiches as a post Thanksgiving leftover meal – and it freezes well for when the cold and flu season hits.

Mmmmm...made Beef Strogenoff tonight for dinner. Definitely a favorite for my hubby and I, the kids don't care for it though so this is one of the few times I make something different for them for dinner.

I like pot roast, made in a crock pot. It's great for any time of year, but since it's so filling and hearty, it's really wonderful for fall.
