I always seem to have around, either leftover steamed or roasted. It's great added to mac & cheese, whether homemade or boxed. Also, I put the leftover steamed in a saute pan w/olive oil, a pinch of butter and some sliced garlic & pepper flakes. Cook quick til brown and crispy. A bit different taste from the oven roasted. This is also good cold with a soft boiled egg, a slice of tomato and a slice of toast.

have a good cauliflower recipe > if you're interested!
hjmans, I would love a good cauliflower recipe. I am always looking for new vegetable recipes. My kids hesitate to try "new" vegetables, but are willing to try new things with familiar ones.

Welcome to the community, jay1024. That sounds good as well. Now just to bring myself to try the two options I've seen here that appeal to me. I hesitate at trying new veggies.. well, hesitate is too kind of a word... I go kicking and screaming into trying new veggies. lol

I might be the super-dork here, but my SO and I have been trying to eat healthier. What we do with broccoli, is the traditional steaming, (or boiling, we like ours really tender), pop it in a bowl with some "I can't believe its not butter" spray, and a little salt and eat it like its popcorn while we're watching a movie. Dorky, I'm sure, but it might put a unique spin on it for kids?? Its good too if you sprinkle some of that Kraft cheese topping (or a little parm) on it. Then you're open for other veggies at dinner.. if you can get the kids to eat them, that is! I have a good cauliflower recipe if you're interested!

Hey Freki, try this: Make a basic white sauce and then add in some grated Asiago cheese (you can now get this in pre-packaged cheese section at the grocery store). Add a little pepper once you have the taste where you like it and coat the broccoli or put in a gravy boat!! So yummy!!
I don't know what salad recipe the other lady was referring to but if you will cut up the broc and pour hot water over it and then put it in cold water, drain and set aside. Then cut up cherry tomatoes, add black olives, celery, bell peppers and lightly chopped water chestnuts and Kraft Zesty Italian Dressing - mix it all up and chill it - you will have one of the most tasty and popular sides to serve with chicken, beef or fish you will ever eat!!!! Tip: Don't add too much of the dressing - you can always add more at the table!!! Enjoy this fantastic broccoli alternative!!

Welcome to the Kraftfoods neighborhood, Trixie. We eat broccoli a lot in winter after our garden done. Your dressing sounds delicious.
I also love broccoli slaw, which is shredded broccoli stems. I often steam the crowns and save the stems for peeling and slicing in salads for a tasty added crunch, or just for snacking instead of carrots.

Hello!
I love broccoli but sometimes tire of it too. One of my favorite ways to make broccoli is to steam one buch and then make a super flavorful dressing for it.
***Recipe for Lemony Broccoli Dressing***
1 Tbsp Butter 1/8 tsp black pepper Dash Salt Juice of One Lemon
Melt Butter. Add remaining ingredients to the melted butter and mix well. Pour over hot steamed broccoli and serve. Delicious!

You wouldn't believe it, BUT the broccoli salad recipe on this site is fabulous. I never would have thought about making a side salad with broccoli, but it is so refreshing and different from all the other cold sides (cole slaw, potato salad, etc). I add sunflower seeds (as much/little as i have) which have been roasted and salted (I buy them in the small bags already salted and roasted at the check out or at a convenience store. Perfect amount for the salad and I don't have to worry about having leftovers, which I'll just eat b/c I love sunflower seeds!)

Make it in advance (even the day before) to give the flavors time to really integrate.)

ElvisLOVER1980, welcome to the forums and thanks for the great tip! I really... really... don't like broccoli - it's a texture thing - but crispy broccoli sounds a bit intriguing.
