Classic Alfredo Sauce (tastes almost like Olive Garden) ½ cup (1 stick) butter 2 cloves garlic, minced 2 cups heavy cream 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper Pinch salt 1½ c grated Parmesan cheese 1 12-ounce box fettuccine pasta (or your choice)
1. Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium/low heat. 2. Add the garlic, cream, pepper, and salt and bring mixture to a simmer. Turn the heat down if the mixture reaches a rapid boil or it could boil over; you just want a simmer. Add the cheese, and continue to simmer sauce for 8 minutes or until thick. 3. While sauce cooks, bring 4-6 quarts of water to a boil and add the pasta. Cook pasta for about 12 minutes or until done. Drain. 4. Spoon pasta onto serving plates with Alfredo sauce poured over the top.

Great idea! You could even use Pixie Stix.

Or for the kids you could just go with pasta a butter. Sprinkle a little sugar packet on and they think it's dessert. If you want to keep it low cal, use either a pink or blue packet of sugar.

That is actually a good idea when dining at an expensive restaurant with picky kids. Usually they won't eat the pasta with fancy sauce but they'll eat plain noodles with ketchup.

I heard that canned or boxed chicken broth makes things taste homemade and "all day" cooked. Does garlic do that, too?

This is a recipe I came up with when I was cleaning out my fridge, but add about a half a cup of riccotta cheese and a half a cup of cream cheese, heat it in a pan, and a handful of parmesean cheese. Boil some linguine and in the last 5 min of cook time add some frozen broccoli. drain and add to your sauce. salt and pepper to taste and add a little garlic powder maybe, I usually just add whatever my tastebuds call for. It's a fun recipe to experiment with. Just be careful with the riccotta, if you put to much your sauce will be dry.

OMG, that's so funny because my MIL uses the mustard bottles for vases. Her kitchen is yellow so it matches.

I hear ya, Art. When my MIL is finished with a ketchup bottle, she washes it out and uses it for a vase. How's that for cheap!

Thanks for the tip! I've never used tomato soup for regular pasta but I do use it in my lasagna. That and some cottage chesse make for a very tasty lasagna dinner!
