Saturday night we had a fish fry. We usually do it about once a summer, or in this case end of summer. We fried catfish, sweet potato fries, onion rings and hush puppies. We had a side salad and my sister-in-law brought banana pudding.

Last night we compensated some and had a mostly green meal.

The kids had fun making tacos, I enjoyed cream of wheat.

Cold can't last much longer. I hope.

Thanks for the links! I've seen them, I've just never gotten around to doing them.

I should put it on my goals list.

I'm with you Eemma, I prefer to eat my soup from a bowl and my bread on the side. It is fun to order it in a restaurant occasionally.

I had some left over free range chicken thighs and made a mock chicken a la king, which means the principle was the same but the ingredients were what I had on hand, plus a salad.

I'm making a big pot of navy beans in the crock pot for tonight. All the talk about it on another thread really made me hungry for beans.

There are two ways to do bread bowls. One is to buy a "country loaf" (that's what it's called around here -- the round ones that aren't sliced) or bake your own and make them from that. The instructions for the country loaf bowl is here and a recipe for a home baked one is here or for Italian Bread Bowl here .

I prefer to use individual size bowls because I am always sure it is going to soak through. (Even though it hasn't yet :))

Well, let's see, our power was off for two days because of high winds that came through our area doing tons of damage, so we had peanut butter sandwiches and bottled water for dinner the last two nights.

Things seem to be getting back to normal, but I really think dinner tonight is going to be McDonald's or something. I'm not looking forward the the fridge-cleaning-out and replacement food grocery trip.

Chef Bill's New England apple crisp for dessert. Yum!

I missed that. Anyone have a link to the thread, or care to repost?

The sick one picked pancakes for dinner and the kids thought that was a great idea, so pancakes for dinner it was!
