I love grilled cabbage. I add 2 slices of white onion about 1/4 in. thick, the juice of 1/2 lemon and salt and pepper to each wedge of cabbage. Grill about 15 min. per side. It cooks through but still has a little bit of crunch to it. The lemon juice tastes great and helps tenderize the cabbage. People that haven't tried grilled cabbage sure don't know what they are missing.

Please at least give it one try! One big difference you may notice is that the house won't be all full of the cabbage smell. It really is so good and WAY different than say boiling it. Try the nice green tender parts in all the butter. Let me know if your converted!

My sister LOVES cabbage and has been trying for years to get me to eat it. I just really don't like the smell of it after it's been cooked and that throws me off of it. Does grilling help with that? It sounds really great (the method, that is).

I cook my pot roast with onion soup mix, low salt mushroom soup, red wine, onions, potatoes, carrots, garlic and wine. It makes a great gravy, and I think it would be just as good if you added cabbage.

GRAMMY, I do have a question.... I always make gravy w/my pot roast (cooked w/onions/carrots/garlic). Do you with the cabbage in the mix??? Or just use the juices as they are??? I just LOVE the idea of adding a head of cabbage, just wondering how to adjust my standard fare...

The grilled cabbage was a 1st time seeing for me... LOVE that idea. Trying it tomorrow, matter of fact. And, Grammy, adding cabbage to my Pot Roast, stellar idea. Not so sure it will go over quite so well with the rest of my eaters BUT, know what, if I'm the cook, you get what I make. Nuff said...![]:)](http://recipe-board.kraftfoods.com/images/emoticons/devil.gif) Thanks much for all the ideas... WHO knew?!

Grilled cabbage!!! Cut the head of cabbage into quarters. Place it in a doubled layer of heavy duty foil, season it if you wish with salt & pepper, cut a stick of margarine in quarters and place in foil with cabbage. Wrap up tightly and place on the grill for approximately an hour. This is delicious! Only way I will eat cooked cabbage. And it doesn't smell up the house this way.

Welcome to the community, Grammy.
How do you cook your roast? In a pot on the stove or slow cooker? Adding the cabbage sounds like something I would like a lot. Pot roast, usually cooked on the stove, is a good meal for the winter, and I love lots of veggies in it.

I have read all the posts and have been delighted with the results. I, too, have been looking for a good cabbage recipe. I use a lot of cabbage in coleslaw, and also with my pot roast
I always cook my pot roast with quartered potatoes, rough cut carrots, dry onion soup mix and a can of beef broth. After the roast is tender, I cut a head of cabbage into large segments and place on top of the roast and vegetables and continue to cook until the cabbage is tender crisp My family loves this. The roast and vegetables, and of course the beef broth and drippings from the roast really make the cabbage flavorful.

Halushki for sure!!
1 lb Bacon 3 onions 1 head cabbage 1 lb wide egg noodles
Fry bacon crisp and chop into bits set aside Use some of the bacon grease to carmelize onions shredd and boil cabbage to your preferred done-ness (I like mine with a little texture left in it) Combine all ingredients and fry a little longer
Makes a ton and is a crowd pleaser at my house!!

In a large heavy skillet heat the vegetable oil until it is hot but not smoking and to it stir-fry the scallions, cabbage, celery, carrots, garlic, bean sprouts for 3 minutes. Mix together sugar broth, soy sauce, and sesame oil and add to veggies, bring liquid to a boil, ADD noodles Season to taste with red pepper flakes. Simmer until heated through. Before serving, sprinkle with sesame seeds. 2-4 servings

I've never thought of adding apple, but it makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the suggestion.
