My dearest HotToddy:

I'd sooner remove my own gallbladder with a grapefruit knife than consume canned seafood of any type.

I do not recommend it.

Why anyone would eat something called a gooey duck I don't know. I'd stick with the canned shrimp.

Maybe you should try canned shrimp or this canned gooeyduck stuff.

I'm not really big on cream soups, but this sounds fantastic. I love scallops, and this sounds like a light cream sauce, one that won't overwhelm the seafood. I'll have to try it.

I thought they were gooeyduck clams. Anyway, yes. I think they would be fine.

I think fake Krab can be used very successfully in any seafood dish. I add it to soups, salads, casseroles, and even cocktails.

Of course you can use canned shrimp. I would use a few cans, though because scallops are bigger than canned shrimp which are actually krill like they sell in pet shops to feed certain tropical fish.

You can use canned clams too, I would think. They are shellfish like scallops. I often use canned clams instead of tuna for a change from tuna salad. They are good with mayo and chopped celery. Quite a surprise for guests and kids.:^O

Thanks Jane! I prefer to use canned seafood in recipes since it tends to last longer in the pantry. And they don't make canned scallops that I know of.
