It's pretty easy to mix in savory ingredients in biscuit dough like Carrie's recipe. You might also try pizza dough and treat it the same way.
You might also search on stromboli, which is a rolled dough and meat dish, but is usually cooked first, then sliced. Good luck.

Have you tried searching for the hostess online? Sometimes that helps. I have never heard of anything like your recipe. I will do some searching of my own to see what I come up with.

When I was growing up in Alaska KENI TV had a cooking show one of the recipes was for a Burger Twist. My late mom had the recipe and lost it. What I remember was this : you made a dough that was mixed with catsup till it was an orange color. You rolled it out flat and topped it with ground meat (we used moose) It may have had a bit of tomato sauce or paste. You rolled it up like a jelly roll, sliced it and put the cut side down on the cookie sheet. It was baked and served warm. But even the cold leftovers were good. I haven't been able to find anything similar on the internet and the hostess of that show has passed away.
