If your grandmother's used red gelatin and it had cream cheese and nuts, and canned cherries, it is probably a famous traditional Southern recipe. It is served holidays in my family.
3 oz pkg cherry gelatin (reg. cherry or black cherry) 3 oz. pkg strawberry gelatin 16 oz. can Bing cherries (pitted) 20 oz can crushed pineapple 8 oz. cream cheese 12 oz. cola 1 cup chopped pecans
Drain cherries and pineapple, reserving juice. Heat the juice and dissolve the gelatin in it. Cut the cream cheese in very small chunks and add to the gelatin mixture (you can then put this in a blender or food processor if you want the cream cheese thoroughly mixed or you can leave the cream cheese in smal chunks). Add the cherries, pineapple, cola and pecans. Pour into a mold or an oblong glass plan and chill.

This is a several old generation recipe. This is from a gentleman I dated. It is his great grandmother's recipes. She was a wonderful cook. For Christmas one year I spent months copying all the recipes from her box for his maternal grandmother. His grandmother's house was destroyed by a tornado this spring. All the recipes lost. The only copy of them is what I copied onto the computer. Hope you enjoy!
7up Salad
1 pkg. lime jello 1 cup boiling water 6 or 8 oz. cream cheese, must be soft 1# can crushed pineapple, drained ½ cup nuts 1 tsp. vanilla 1 Tbsp. sugar 1 cup 7up
Combine in order given. Hot water softens cream cheese, use rotary beater. Let set until it begins to jell. Combine pineapple, nuts, vanilla, sugar, and 7up last. Whip again.

I think the green salad one is it! My grandmother probably just liked the red better and used that instead, or being thrifty used whatever was in the cabinet.
I don't remember it having marshmallows, but I will try both!
Thank you so much for posting! I can't wait to try them!

Welcome to the community, flipper, dayabee, and Istahnke!
Looks like the two recipes posted might be fitting. Are either of those what you're thinking of?

"Congealed Salad" (my grandmother's recipe)
1 - 3 oz. pkg lime JELL-O (small box) 1 cup boiling water 1/2 cup cold water 1 tablespoon lemon juice 1/2 cup pecans, finely chopped 1 - 8 oz. pkg cream cheese, softened (almost room temp) 1/2 cup mini marshmallows, melted 2/3 cup crushed pineapple, drained
Dissolve JELL-O in boiling water. Add cold water and lemon juice. Gradually add to cream cheese; mix well. Let set up until almost firm. Fold in melted marshmallows, pineapple, and pecans. Chill until set and serve cold.
Hope this helps. This is a family favorite.

My grandmother always made a recipe for us when we were kids it had jello, nuts, pineapple and I think cream cheese in it? It was all mixed together and served cold. I remember it on a hot summer day, I always loved it and now I can't find the recipe anywhere!
Can you PLEASE help! I believe it was fromt he 60's or 70's?
