You can if you never drink the cheap stuff...

Homemade apps are sooo fun, but on a tight budget could be tough. You could always put your own touch on wholesale bought appetizers... Also, for a drink non soda, I would suggest mimosa's. Nine times out of ten, no one can tell the difference between cheap and expensive champagne. If you saved money buying the apps, buy a little bottle of Chambord and make Kier Royale's! You can even buy funny themed champagne flutes at your local party store.

I think this recipe tastes pretty good, and the drink itself is very attractive to look at b/c of the color.
Hawaiian Cosmo
1 ounce Van Gogh Pineapple Vodka
1 ounce Cointreau
1 to 2 ounces Hawaiian Punch
Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into chilled martini glass. Garnish with slice of pineapple or orange. Makes 1 drink.

For drinks, how about a Flavor-Your-Own-Iced-Tea Bar? Make a couple of gallons of iced tea and then get several flavored syrups (you can find them in the coffee aisle at the super market).
For munchies, the meatball idea already mentioned is great.
You might also want to make a couple of large sub sandwiches of different types on large inexpensive French bread and then cut them into finger sizes and arrange them on platter. You can serve a couple of types of chips with these for pretty cheap also.

deviled eggs, cheese and crackers, home made dips aren't expensive at all. You can buy a bag of frozen meatballs (not that expensive) put them in a crock with sauce and serve with small rolls, for tiny meatball sandwiches...
Drinks...hmmm, soda, water, lemonade/iced tea...
Hope that helps.

I am going to be hosting/entertaining a jewlery party for approx. 10 women in October. I need to provide fun snacky/finger foods & drinks, but I am on a very tight budget! I'd like to have drinks that are not just boring soda. Any ideas would be great!
