I'll tack my welcome on with Eemma's, who had very good advice. I stayed with a Jewish friend and couldn't really tell you anything 'different' about what we ate. You may find you don't have to change anything.

Welcome to the Message Boards.

I would ask them if there is any restrictions on what they will eat and ask if there is anything they would like. I found a site that explains dietary restrictions for several religions. A quote from this site is:
"Many Jewish people practice some or all of these restrictions in various degrees. It would be best to inquire as to what if any restrictions they have."

The site is http://www.butlersguild.com/index.php?subject=103

Do not serve any dairy to your guest with the lamb.
That means, no milk or butter in the mashed, no dairy in the salad, no butter in the veg.
And if they are completly kosher, they cannot eat at your house anyway.
No need to change a menu for everyone for one kosher guest.

Jewish Side dishes

Posted: Aug 27, 2009 4:59 PM
I need help! My husband and I are hosting dinner and one of our guests is Jewish, so I would like ideas and/or recipes for some side dishes that we can all enjoy. (Our main dish is lamb)
Thank you
