Pina Colada Jello is available.. I know you've already had the party, but you should grab some for next time! Then you have the white!

After seeing this post I decided we had to have Jello-shots at our party too...however, I didn't go the "red, white & blue" route...
I only had watermelon & vanilla vodka on hand so we're doing Watermelon Jello-shots made with watermelon jello & the watermelon vodka...and Creamsicle Jello-shots made with orange jello & vanilla vodka
HAPPY 4th EVERYONE!!

I was thinking "Why not make the jello shot, get it in the shot glass, and THEN add a drop of food coloring and add more as desired?" and then I realised that is really just more work.. BUT... it gave me an ah-ha moment...
You could take VERY light-colored jellos, get it all in the shot glass and let it barely barely set, then put a drop or two of a dark food coloring in and stir it very gently with a toothpick for a swirl effect.
Not sure if it would work, but it sounds pretty! lol

I would use cherry jello instead of strawberry and then add some red food coloring to make the jello shot darker.

Welcome to the Kraftfoods community, Jeniica. I don't see why you couldn't add a bit of red food coloring to the Jell-O.
One of these days, I'm going to have to try Jell-O shots. Jen's been after me for a while now.

OK - so you think i can add RED food coloring to PINK jello to make the jello darker pink or even red? I'm making jello shots for the 4th of july (gonna make red and blue shots) - but I got strawberry jello (it's pink).

Yes you can.
Kraft uses food coloring to make it, after all. Adding a different color wil defintely work, but you might have to experiment to get the color right.

Thank your so much for your advise! Omamcm I really like the idea of using Knox with green food coloring in white grape juice. I've never actually used Knox but I do have a box that I got for another recipe so I'll try that out.

I don't see why not! Seems I remember blue and yellow make green. Try a teeny tiny bit of blue food color in lemon jello. Or use Knox with green food in white grape juice.

Welcome to the community, ungerm1.
I've never tried changing the color of jell-o, I can't imagine any color that would easily be changed by food coloring to green. You could play around with it and try, a few drops in a small bowl, see how it mixes up, but I bet you find most people are okay with the green, especially mixed in with fruit.
Good luck!

If you think no one will enjoy green jello, then don't make green jello. Do you really think the lime is so pungent? Jello is jello...I bet if you closed your eyes, and tried 3 different colours, there will be no way you could tell which is which. Try it. You will not be able to tell the difference between pepsi, ginger ale and 7-up with the same test. Old bar trick, but true.

I'm doing a graduation party for my son & was wanting to either do the Patriotic Layer, Easy American Dessert or the Lime-strawberry Fruity Jello parfaits. But use the school colors of green, red and white. The only green jello I can find is the lime & I don't think everyone will enjoy lime - can I use food color in another flavor & make it green? Or am I missing a flavor?
Thanks for any help you can offer. Michelle
