Mine knows I'd have handed him the store list so he could go, thus he never asks those sorts of things. Hee!

Thanks for the link to that sandwich. Of course, then I looked around her site and spent over an hour reading her love story. My hubby came and check on me twice ...'still reading? We're out of milk. What is story about. Going to the store? We need milk for dinner. How about the bank?" Yeah, my story isn't quite that romantic, but he ain't bad!

I love cheese too and added a slice of provolone to my sandwich and it's great, but really, with all the flavor from the seasoning and butter, it doesn't need it to taste great.
I came across that recipe and web site by accident ages ago and now I'm in love - her site has such yummy recipes and her stories are fascinating and fun.

> Where's the cheese???!
The beauty of cooking yourself! I added a slice of provolone on each sandwich just before putting the top of the roll on it. I think munster, mozzarella, pepper jack or cheddar would work just fine, too.

Really, just DON'T, for the love of all that is yummy! The butter is what gives it the great flavor. You REALLY have to use the butter specified. That's why it's a treat, and a rare one at that. It's very very good, though.

I don't know how my hubby knew I had looked at this recipe, [rather spooky really] but he brought home a big package of cube steak. We tried it tonight (with green peppers and provolone cheese, added) and he loved it. It was quite fast to put together, not healthy, but scrumptious! Once in awhile will be delightful though.

Note, this is NOT a healthy recipe. It uses butter and LOTS of it, but it is probably THE BEST sandwich I have ever eaten.
The Pioneer Woman: Marlboro Man's Favorite Sandwich
It uses 2 1/2 pounds of cube steak in the recipe and it's soooo good!

Cube steaks even have their own web site. There are some interesting recipes here: http://www.cubesteak.com/.

Out of the norm ideas; we use it for taco fillings and/or homemade steak and cheese grinders.

Chicken Fried steak is the first thing that came to my mind. It's cube steak dipped in a flour mixture. You can google up lots of recipes for this.

Can anyone give me some suggestions on what to do with the several packages of cube steak that came in my butcher's variety pack? I honestly can't think of a time that I have ever used it. Thanks everyone!
