If you want to find a group that alternates dinners, I would start with your neighborhood and work out. The tiny library in our little town is a great source of information plus they have a bulletin board for posting notices. The same is true of churches.

Thanks for the info. I was actually thinking more along the lines of finding a group of people that takes turns hosting a dinner at their house. But I like your idea of getting together with others to try different restaurants, too. Thanks again for the advice!

Let me second the welcome, emptynest 2be.

Chef Bill, as usual =), had some great ideas. I did a quick google search for my state, using dinner club, and came up with a bunch of hits.

Good luck in your search!

Hi emptynest 2be,

First of all "Welcome" to the community! I hope you enjoy your association here and that you will share your thoughts, ideas, amd recipes with all of us. I started cooking in 1943 and am still learning.

Getting to your question. I would think there would be plenty of opportunity to find dinner clubs in Kansas City which is known for it's wonderful food, especially steaks. I know as I used to live less than 50 miles from both Kansas Cities.

Why don't you start "networking" by asking several of the restaurants in your area if they know of any, you could also check with your chamber of commerce, and who knows, possibly the phone book might have some listings. You might also ask about dinner theaters where you have a lovely dinner followed by a play or other type theatrical presentation.

Here in Maine, many of the restaurants have gotten together, through the local NBC-TV station, and are offering "Half-Off" dining. For $25 you get $50 purchasing power off the menu. That might be something you could suggest to your TV stations or restaurants especially now days when many restaurants are experiencing a down turn.

Finally you could always make your own dinner club with your own group and go out all together as a group to restaurants of interest and at the frequency desired. Let different members of the group rotate suggested restaurants.

I hope this has given you some suggestions and that you find some wonderful new places to eat. These places are waiting to see you.

Happy dining!

Chef Bill

I am interested in joining a dinner club in the Kansas City area. Any thoughts on how I find one?
