Hello Kraft Community, we are very excited to share some great news with you. As loyal Kraft Community members we have heard your desire to do more fun things in the community and we are happy to announce in January 2010 we will be making some changes so you can connect and share food ideas in more ways than ever!

I have personally never heard of Postrum. However, with so many people too sue happy this day----if this is the true reason why Kraft pulled it off the shelves I DON'T BLAME THEM!!!!

have you read the 6th message down about the acrylamide in Postum and how that ties in with my theory aabout why Postum was discontinued...
Please read it and you will most likely not crave postum then.

I'm 54, in very good health, work out frequently, eat really healthy and have drunk Postum for 30 years since I discovered it in 1978 at the age of 24. Anyway, my soon-to-be 90-year-old parents have taken to it in their elderly community and others there have taken to it. My 17 & 20-year-old boy and girl love Postum. After noticing it's absence over the past 2 months in the stores, I am now today shock after reading the decision by Kraft to kill Postum!
How could a wonderful company like Kraft possibly miss the markets of the health-conscious and the aging this much?!! People have increasing awareness of the effects of diuretics and heart issues that make coffee undesirable. The coffee-flavored Postum was the perfect alternative to coffee. And now it's gone. I know Kraft has a finite advertising budget, but there are better ways to advertise to the health-conscious such as sports, fitness, health magazines. These reader read ads!
Kraft, you've missed a market and a lower-cost marketing play to expand market (grow the pie of health-conscious eaters who consume warm beverages but don't want coffee) and increase your market share and margin! How do you look at numbers, Kraft - on a mass level only? You are thinking too big on a mass market approach. Think niche, bring Postum back. Go right at the healthy and the aged.
Isn't it true that though less people would buy Postum than instant coffee, wouldn't they pay more for it? The people I know who like Postum would pay more for it. I just saw it on sale on eBay for $20 a jar. I'd have paid double for Postum's typical $4 price. Those who would discover Postum would pay more for this treat.
I've read where Mormon or Adventist were huge markets. I'm neither religiously and many present & potential Postum lovers are neither, so please respect there may be more people out there whom you could have marketed to. Isn't customer product loyalty of value to you over shifting sand of whims of millions? Common, Kraft, smell the coffee ..er, Postum! :o)

Have you done any research on how Pero is made?
I have tried it and it is not too bad...I wonder if it is baked as long as Postum is to produce it?
I wonder what the level of acrylamide is in Pero....
I could get used to it if it is healthy
You know that is the reason that I always drank postum ...I thought it was a healthy drink...and I sure wont continue if I found out to the contrary

I bought Pero from Amazon and added about 1/8 teaspoon molasses to a cup and it tastes almost like Postum - it is very hard to tell the difference.

We have all been wondering why Kraft discontinued Postum...
And If what I suspect is true then we will not want to continue trying to bring postum back ...
In 2002 the FDA discovered a chemical in foods called Acrylamide...and high levels of it was found in Postum...I know from internet searches that the FDA is putting a lot of pressure on company's to reduce the levels of this chemical in their products.
Well since Postum had such a high content...Kraft decided to pull the product as quietly as possible... Now I ask you ..why else would they pull it from every manufacturing plant ..even Canada..and not even offer an online service..just doesnt make sense...I will tell you my theory..and that is that Kraft is afraid ...If Postum has a high content of a chemical known to cause cancer and individuals have been consuming it for many many many years...doesnt that open the door for potential problems for Kraft?
and doesnt that give Kraft a good reason to pull the Product?
I believe that is the only reason they pulled Postum and to be truthful...I dont think I can drink it anymore...

Kraft staffers, PLEASE consider bringing Postum back. My 92 year old grandmother has been begging me to find some way to resurrect this product. She says that everyone in her assisted living home is angry, upset, disappointed, frustrated and saddened by Postum's demise. I have to admit, until I started reading several message boards on the internet, I was unaware that so many people felt as strongly as she does. Consumers of this product are downright passionate about it, and I think it is important for a company such as yours to not only look at "the bottom line," but also take into consideration the desires of the consumers who buy your products.

Whoa, I was unaware of Kraft discontinuing POSTUM. I too have enjoyed this product since I was "knee high to a grasshopper". My parents would make it for me when they had their coffee, I had my POSTUM. Gosh what am I to do now????

I have just been to Ebay to see for myself, and yes, there are many sellers of of Postum, but my my, at what prices, The cheapest I saw was an 8oz jar for $19.99 with shipping costing & some dollars.
I have never tasted it but you guys here mak it sound so delicious I am tempted to buy a jar, even at the extravagant prices

I was just going through your web site and I can't believe that TANG is a better seller than Postum! I and my family for generations have drank Postum with breakfast, after work, before we go to bed or any time we just want to relax! I love the smooth wonderfully natural taste of Postum! There is NOTHING like anywhere! I think you really messed up with this decision! I sure hope you bring it back or atleast make it available online! here is another case of Money over People! You could have just raised the price and kept it on the shelf. This is truely a dark day for Kraft!
