I bet that combo makes an appearance on one of Sandra Lee's inane Semi-HoMade shows.

Cooking food in salad dressing is just very, very wrong.

Cooking is difficult to do correctly.

You can "call it" anything you want, really. But bolognese sauce isn't made anything like that. It has different ingredients and a totally different cooking method. It's simple and delicious.

That recipe is for a different sauce, altogether.

Plus what's up with cooking food in salad dressing? That's sorta gross.

:)Main Entry: Bo·lo·gnese
Pronunciation: "bO-l&-'n(y)Ez, -'n(y)Az, -'n(y)Es, -'n(y)As; -'n(y)A-zE, -sE
Function: adjective
1 : of, relating to, or characteristic of Bologna , Italy
2 : being or prepared with tomato sauce flavored with meat

The second definition is probably why its called bolognese

Bolognese sauce is a kind of sauce for pasta that originated in Bologna, Italy. The recipe above is nothing at all like bolognese sauce, though. Yikes.

It does. A big, round piece is called bologna. When you shred it up fancy style, it is called bolognese.

carolynif1, What is "bolognese"? I've seen the name in several recipes, but don't know what it is or what it means. Thanks, Granna

Hi shining light. I'm new to this also but I have been making recipes from Kraft's for years. I have made at least 50 recipes from this web site. If you have any questions about any recipes. I'm the girl to ask! Have a good time cooking. P.S. my all time favorite recipe from this web site is the spaghetti zesty bolognese!

1 small onion, chopped
1/4 cup KRAFT Zesty Italian Dressing
1 lb. ground beef
1 can (15 oz.) tomato sauce
1 can (14 oz.) diced tomatoes, undrained
2 Tbsp. PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese
12 oz. spaghetti, uncooked
1/4 cup KRAFT 100% Grated Parmesan Cheese

COOK onions in dressing in large skillet on medium heat. Increase heat to medium-high. Add meat; cook, stirring frequently, until browned. Stir in tomato sauce and tomatoes. Bring to boil. Reduce heat to medium-low; simmer 15 min. Remove from heat. Stir in cream cheese until well blended.
MEANWHILE, cook pasta as directed on package.
SPOON sauce over pasta. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
