mommyrosa, Instead of canned, why not frozen? they taste fresher and you could use jen3314's ideal and stir-fry them. Maybe even adding sesame seeds, you know 'finger food". annaskf

personally I love them with minced garlic, chopped onion, and bacon grease and some salt and pepper, but you said it was for pre-schoolers so I would say, drain the cans, put some velveeta on top, warm them up stir them and top with some Italian bread crumbs, they always love cheese!!

I love to slow cook them with pearl onions and bacon drippings. HOWEVER I try real hard to not to use that kind of fat anymore. Instead I have found a bacon seasoning that has onion, garlic and some other spices along with the bacon bits and I use this instead. It is also more flexible because I can cook them at a hard boil if I'm short on time or I can simmer them if I have the luxury. The taste is so close to the origional that my family never noticed the difference...not even my Grams from whom this recipe came! Even my son who thinks green beans are poison likes these enough to eat three.

They are good alot of different ways. I have added cream cheese and cooked bacon with mine or garlic and Bacon, or velvetta cheese, or canned tomatoes or the cream of mushroom soup it all depends what you like or you can leave them plain and just add a little butter like you said.

You could add some bacon, or cream of mushroom with some velveeta to make kinda like a casserole, or I add a veggie bouillon cube for added flavor.

how can I cook green beans....

If anyone can give me a simple "what to do" with 2 cans of green beans. My son's pre-school has asked me to bring in 2 cans of green beans, but I hate to just dump them in a dish pan and take them like that. Is there something I can do with them? Maybe I can add butter and put them in the microwave for like 3 minutes? Or steam them with some kind of spicing? Please, any ideas? As you can tell, I don't cook much! Thanks.
