Hi All,
I also rarely use coupons as I have found far too often that the prices of the coupon items are far more expensive than the store brands which in many cases are made by the same manufacturer.

I do all my personal family shopping and I know fairly well what items cost from week to week. Many items advertised in the weekly sales brochures are not on sale and are at the everyday price. All the brochure is saying is that item is "for sale", not necessarily "on sale" unless it says it is so; just be aware of that.

I charge all my grocery items and keep the receipts until the bill comes in. That gives me the opportunity to check the items previous prices against next week's sale brochures to watchout for price increases of an item.

I don't know how much time you spend shopping the aisles and comparing but you can save a lot of money if you take time to read the labels. For example, most tuna fish cans have been reduced from 6oz to 5 oz so each can saves the company 1 oz of tuna and for every five cans of tuna sold the company has an extra can to sell. Often the price remains the same and the consumer will feel it's a bargain. Look also at the net weight on the label. Some net weights indicate the food weight and some now also include the total weight of the contents, including liquids you pour down the drain. Some peanut butter companies are also reducing quantities by using the same size jar but increasing the concave bottom and making it deeper so the jar holds less.

I hope my ideas help reduce what you spend.

i also look at the store flyers to see whats on sale...if a certain meat is on sale, i will stock up on it and portion it out and freeze it. just an example...

Hi everyone! I have a question. Does anyone use coupons at the grocery store? I try to clip them to save some, but there is never anything I use in the booklets! How do you save at the grocery store? I'm a stay at home mom, my husband does very well for us all (2 girls and myself) but I would love to be able to stretch our money a little farther. Can anyone help?
