My teenager got his license this last month; he and his buddies have always enjoyed what you described above. Keeps the hallow legged teens busy for a bit!

Hi Moderator Deanne,
Yes, it is good to be back! I would like to melt all the snow here in Maine as we have not seen any "earth" since before Christmas. We have two to three feet of snow everywhere and four to six foot drifts.
While I'd like to use my microwave to melt the snow, a virtual impossibility, I also cannot spare the time as my microwave is needed to cook my "Easy Mac" for my crowd and me.
Recently, I wanted to save some time when we had six younger children visiting for a party. I wanted to create something I thought they'd enjoy without going to a lot of trouble. I first took six "hotdogs" and sliced them into 1/4" slices on a bias and microwaved them at 60% power in a covered casserole dish sprayed with non-stick until very warm, just begining to "puff up". Next I removed the "hotdogs" from the casserole and set them aside. I then opened six "Easy Macs", put the amount of water needed in each then "dumped" all of them into the casserole to microwave at full power until the water was gone and they were tender. Lastly, I put back the "hot dogs" and stirred them into the "Easy Mac" and let it sit for a few minutes for the flavors and temperatures to equalize. To say it was a success would be an understatement as there was nothing left.
Next time I plan to do the same thing but use ready made, already cooked, Italian meat balls thawed in the fridge before cooking and add them to the "Easy Mac" just minutes before cooking is finished.
Easy is the magic in "Easy Mac"!.
Try it sometime and go creative. the possibilities are endless.

Hello one and all,
Sorry to be such a recluse but I have been away and more than busy. Ah yes, Easy Mac!!
I have not had any problems with Easy Mac either from a cooking standpoint, change in taste, or the cheese.
The only things I can come up with that might be causing you problems is the output of your microwave. Mine is 1100 watts and is a very hot and quick cooker. Some of the smaller microwaves are around 600 watts. That is a bit slow and can significantly impact on your results.
There is a test for microwaves. Combine 1 cup of water with ice in a 2 cup measure or other utensil. Stir 2 minutes or until ice stops melting and water is very cold. Remove ice and pour 1 cup (8 ozs) of the cold water into a 1-cup glass measure. Microwave, uncovered, on high until water begins to boil. If water boils in less than 3 1/2 minutes, your microwave is producing 600-700 watts or more. If it takes 3/12 to 41/2 minutes to boil, wattage output is 500-600 watts. If it takes more than 4 1/2 minutes wattage output is less than 500 watts. Based on all that with todays powerful microwaves, your one cup of water most likely will boil in 2 1/2 minutes which means you have at least a 1100watt microwave with plenty of wattage for Easy Mac.
You can find an 1100 watt microwave now for under $100, if you need one.
Now this may sound crazy but is your water very hard with lots of minerals, or is is soft. This can affect results with certain foods. To rule out any water problems, fill your Easy Mac as indicated with bottled water as a test and give that a try.
Finally, and as a last resort, try cooking it a little longer and let it sit when cooked to even out the heat and possibly soften a bit more.

My microwave is less than a year old and I have been cooking Easy Mac in it a couple of times a week, since purchasing it and have not had any problems. That's why I was concerned over product changes or processing changes. I was curious if anyone else has expierienced this change.

I know that I have to cook them longer than indicated... but my microwave is infamous for not working like it should, so I don't know that I can chalk it up to a product issue, for me anyhow.

I purchased the 18 pack microwavable single serve packs. After cooking for the recommended time as I always do, most of the noodles were still hard. I tried a different serving with the same result. The cheese had a different texture as well. Has anyone noticed a change in this product?
