Thanks for the information, mouser14, and welcome to the Kraftfoods community. I don't think I've ever had a toasted cheese sandwich with Limburger cheese. That would be pungent for sure.

Welcome to the Kraftfoods community, bmehling1999, and thanks for the link to your recipe. My Dad liked the Limberger Cheese spread on rye bread with onion slices. He said it reminded him of good times. As I've grown older, I find myself liking the taste of more robust cheeses. Perhaps I should give this a try to see what I might have been missing.

I totally appreciate the prompt response to my post, requesting the recipe for the Limburger Cheese Spread, and will definitely try the "President Harding's" recipe. BUT, the one I'm looking for is made with "Cream Cheese", and the "Edible Rind" of the brick style cheese. If anyone can help me out........I will be truly grateful!
Thanks Again!

As I remember, this was at least one of the recipes posted: http://www.yankeemagazine.com/recipes/search/onerecipe.php?number=1372
Good luck!

I also have been searching for this spread. Although I thoroughly enjoy the brick type, I've just been craving the spread. I was very disappointed when I discovered it had been discontinued. Hard to believe that so many others are requesting it, I was told it was due to lack of interest in the product.
I saw on the message board that someone (constancecy) posted on 1/19/09 that there is a recipe to make it with cream cheese and the edible rind, but the entire recipe wasn't posted.
PLEASE....If you have this recipe, PLEASE POST IT, or contact me!
MUCH THANKS FOR ANY HELP

I was told it was discontinued because of the culturally insensitive name.

What the Heck how come Kraft quits making something that they have been making for over 50 years? I just can't understand their thinking I've been buying it for at least 40 years myself. And would pay twice the price for the product. Anyone at Kraft paying attention out there. Well to bad I guess I will just have to make my own. I will live without "KRAFT" in my life from here on out. Vernski01

I too looked everywhere for this great cheese. Perhaps the last real piece of cheese that Kraft sells that isn't over processed yucky "cheese food." I live in the Mohawk Valley and the Palatine Cheese Factory Store now carries Country Castle Limburger from Monroe, WI, 608-325-4343. You can make an excellent cheese spread yourself using cream cheese and the edible rind of the limburger in the food processor. Palatine Cheese makes cheddar wheels and many flavored cheddars. All are aged and keep indefinitely--just wipe off the mold with vinegar. They are in Nelliston, NY. 518-993-5559.

If I remember correctly, Limberger or (Limburger) is a semi-soft cheese where the odor comes mostly from the rind. Maybe find a piece of good quality cheese and see what you would need to do to make it more spreadable, or keep it spreadable.
I did find this recipe: http://www.yankeemagazine.com/recipes/search/onerecipe.php?number=1372
Good luck and good eating!
