Wow, I'm having my wisdoms out this Thursday. Thanks for all the great info, and keep it coming!
Weight loss is a bonus for all the pain, I'm sure. I have heard that you should not use straws to avoid dry sockets. I just hope I can open my mouth wide enough for a spoon!

*Sigh* I could stand to lose 4 pounds, but not from oral surgery!
I found this great website that lists lots of liquid recipes. Who would have that to blenderize enchiladas or spaghetti! http://www.widesmiles.org/cleftlinks/WS-414.html

Ohno! Poor Jen, I hope it gets better soon.
They have those vitamin waters or veggie juices if you want to make sure you're getting some good stuff in there. Maybe st.boisterous will have some good ideas for liquid food.

Jen, Hope you're doing well. When I was 18, I had oral surgery to correct an underbite. Bone and marrow from my hip was transplanted in my upper jaw, which was actually cut out and pulled forward. This was all wired to my sinuses to stay in place. Needless to say, I could not eat anything solid for about 6 weeks. My favorite was melted coffee ice cream. I also drank alot of Ensure. I have never in my life had such a flat stomach. It was great!! Anyway, hope you recovery was speedy.

Good luck Jen!
I'd follow the dentists bland diet for the first few days, even if it is boring. I pushed it when I had mine out and got what they call "dry socket", where it starts to heal over wrong. You do not want that pain.
Go easy, treat yourself to ice cream, and it'll be over in no time.

Jen,
Take it easy while you are recovering...we will be thinking of you! When i had mine out several years ago, I lived on mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, popsicles, and chicken noodle soup. I didn't have the root canal and the rest, but I was over it in just a couple of days.
Hopefully you will have as speedy a recovery! Keep us posted......

Jen, good luck to you! I had all my wisdom teeth extracted like that and I know it won't be fun.
We'll all be thinking good thoughts for you tomorrow. Take care.

If you are on heavy meds, you won't even care if you are eating! I hope you have someone staying with you? While the surgeon's plan sounds boring, s/he probably knows what s/he is talking about!
As far as ideas for semi-solid foods - what about foods like apple sauce, mashed bananas, mashed potatoes, cornmeal mush....?
I hope your surgery & recuperation go well
