When you do find just the right pot or pan that works the best and is most successful for your recipe, make a note of it right on the recipe. Put a post-it on the back with a description of the pot/pan and the size, color, etc. -- whatever will help you remember. Or possibly keep an index card in a convenient kitchen drawer, noting which pans have been the most successful for what type of foods. good luck to you...

I can only make my baked mac & cheese in one certain pan, if I try it in another it never comes out right. Sometimes the recipe needs a certain pan, and sometime the cook does; trick is finding what works for you. =)

What a helpful link!
There are a lot of different kinds of pots and pans, but I think the reason that they are rarely listed in a recipe while baking dishes are is because stove-top cooking is (often) more forgiving. You can taste as you go and watch it more closely.

My husband can find things I can't and I can find things he can't on the 'net. Our brains just work that much different. I'm sure there will be times you will be able to find things I won't as well!

lbuzzy... Eemma's post might be just what you need. Eemma, dag, you're good. I tried to find something like this and, as you can see, had no success..... There is something to be said for the "search talent" on the internet. I'm jealous...
