Yes, eating more than an entire kernel or pod can be poisonous, but that can be said of many plants, herbs or seeds. In small amounts it is actually beneficial. (Another one of those, too much of a good thing...)
And nutmeg is fabulous added to cream sauces. I particularly like it in creamed spinach.

I use it in cauliflower soup. Sounds weird but it's really good that way.

How do you know that it hasn't poisoned you a little bit? Caused some brain damage or something. I'm staying away from nutmeg.

GE,
I would sooner pull my toenails out!
I can taste nutmeg in anything it's in -- has a very definite taste. Gravy would be the last thing I would put it in, sorry.

Jen: Nutmeg in the gravy, try it next Thanksgiving. You'll love it, even if you don't like nutmeg. I'd try it in baked goods, but I don't bake. At all. Just all that measuring and everything...ugh, not my thing. I like to eyeball it, you know?
>Just remember that too much is poisonous.
Young lady, I've been eating nutmeg for 76 years. If it hasn't killed me yet, no reason to quit, right?
I will have to try this eggnog-tini creation, however. Is that courtesy of that young lady on Food Network that uses the seasoning packets? I will need to look into this. Thanks for the suggestion.
Sincerely, Emanuel

Use a bit of nutmeg (fresh is best) in mashed potatoes as well as mushrooms. It is a very standard ingredient in savory dishes as well as baking. It helps bring out the flavors. It's a staple in my kitchen.

Nutmeg isn't smokey at all. Cumin adds the smokey flavor to Taco Bells "food". I hate Rachael Ray. I used to like her but she's everywhere now.

They just might use a dash of nutmeg. It's an ingredient that makes people wonder "Hmmm....what is that slight, little smokey, nutty taste in here?" YUM-O!

I didn't think Taco Bell uses nutmeg. I think they use spice powder rub.
