Maybe consider thowing her a hawiian party! U could play hawwian music, pass out grass skirts, and more. Plus, you could have fruit of all kinds displayed and ready to eat. Like: Pinnapple, grapes, banana, canaloupe, watermelon, honeydew, and more. yum! hope this helped!

I like the meat cake idea. Or, you could skewer marshmallows and pineapples and bananas together, and grill them or cook them over a fire. serve them with chocolate syrup to dip in.

Great idea. Kids, and grownups, too, will usually eat what they help to create. Thanks.

One thing I have done for my son who doesn't eat birthday cake is let each of the kids make their own. Instead of cake I give every kid a couple of graham crackers. Instead of frosting I let them put peanut butter or cream cheese on the cracker. Then I help them drizzle on melted chocolate and decorate it with granola or dried fruit. It's fun, it's healthy, and most of the kids will eat everything on it. As long as they make it, kids will eat just about anything.

Welcome, SleepyMaggie!
I'm so glad there were some ideas here you liked. I have a sweet tooth (primarily chocolate) but I have some food aversions that make no sense to anyone else, so I can appreciate your problem.
I hope you stick around. There are some very nice and helpful people here!

Cool, I found this forum by Googling for alternatives to birthday cake - what a lot of great ideas! Thanks so much! I'm going to print some of them out to give to my family for my own upcoming birthday.
I have never liked sweets at all and have been made to feel like some kind of freak about it for most of my life. Even on my birthday you'd think people would give me a break about forcing cake on me but, nope! They still look at me all thunderstruck when I try to insist that I really really really don't want the cake, until finally I force myself to choke some down just to avoid hurting their feelings. Maybe some of these ideas - especially the beautiful fruit arrangements - will let them satisfy their own sugar cravings and still taste good to me (fruit I like! As long as you don't pour sugary things all over it, LOL!)

How about cupcakes? Some people who won't eat cake, still eat cupcakes? Or how about an ice cream cake? My favorite growing up was Carvel brand but Baskin Robbins, Dairy Queen and other ice cream places have their own variations.

What about a big chocolate chip cookie? Or bite size cupcakes?

You could make her a meat cake. Use hamburger meat. Mix it like a meatloaf but put it in two cake pans and bake it. Unmold the meat layers and use ketchup for icing. If she won't eat ketchup because it's mostly tomatoe, then use mustard or BBQ sauce for icing. You can decorate it octodogs and pepperoni slices.

I give my kids a choice for their birthday on what they want. The choices are icecream cake, regular cake or a "cookie cake". I take their favorite type of cookie and make it on a round pizza pan and bake for about 30 minutes. I get some icing and decorate it just like a regular cake. I usually make at least once a year for one of my four kids.

I love cake, but when my birthday rolls around, my sister always makes me a cheesecake or pumpkin pie. She knows I love both and love both more than any cake, so it's still sort of a "surprise" since I don't know if I'll be getting one or the other.
Also, to the original poster, has the birthday come and gone? What did you go with and how did she like it?

We did "popcorn" cake for my son - we made a huge bowl of popcorn and put a candle in the middle of it (inside a tiny butter dish of course!) He loved it!
