I was thinking about Oriental Tradings too, at least for the decorations. I'm a Pre-k teacher and this was our end of the school year theme.

Torani Syrups are so much fun to have at a party. You can buy a whole bunch of tropical flavors and mix with club soda or alcohol. The following website has some great recipes and you can even order the syrups to be shipped to your door! Just get some fun, pretty, and cheap-o glasses or stemware from Wal-Mart or Target and have yourself a customizable mini-bar!

How about kababs made with ham, pineapple, cherries and maybe kiwi.

I like the idea of grilled fresh pineapple on sticks. I also think cooking your pulled pork in a slow cooker is a better option than cooking an entire pig unless you are having a huge crowd.

A friend from Hawaii gave me this recipe. It's a lot easier than burying a pig! Picnic Shoulder Pork, slash with knife, rub with lots of course salt and 2 T mesquite liquid smoke. Put in crock pot on high, fill halfway with water. Cook ALL DAY! To do it the original way, it would cook buried in the ground for a couple of days. It's delicious!

We just had a party and served:

Little smokies in sweet and sour sauce (1 jar grape jelly and 1 jar cocktail sauce), grilled and skewered chicken with teriaki sauce, coconut shrimp, fresh fruit skewered, ham and swiss chese sandwiches, pasta salad with slices of almonds or pine nuts mixed in. Pineapple and mango salsa, Coconut Cream Pie, spinach dip in a hawaiian bread bowl, macadamia/white chocolate chip cookies.

Hope that helps!

Drinks with paper umbrellas, sand to bury the pig to smoke, and plenty of poi. Up to you if it's one or two finger poi.

Oh, and pineapples on sticks. ;)
