Mom2boys,
Thanks for posting that link with all those great Ham glaze recipes on it. I have saved it. I think I will use the recipe for the Apricot Brandy Glaze! That one really looks great and very different from the other type glazes we have used in the past.
Thanks everyone for your suggestions also.
MonaK

I am trying to figure out what to make for my Christmas eve dinner. I have it down to either steak on the grill or ham. Here are some ham glaze recipes to look through. Several of them look good.

We traditionally have the bone-in ham, rind sliced off, fat scored and cloves stratigically placed inside each "square" of the ham where it has been scored.
The glaze is nothing more than yellow mustard and brown sugar as mentioned by dls00sns.
Baked in a slow oven for a long time, glazed and reglazed. Before the last glaze, pineapple rings are strategically placed on the ham and marishino cherries placed inside each ring.
Soooo Good....

This is for a smoked picnic shoulder but you can also use ham... 1 (7 lb) picnic shoulder; 2 c sugar; 1 c honey OR brown sugar; 6 oz OJ concentrate; 1 tsp whole cloves
Slice 1/2 way to bone. Place in large bowl/stockpot. Almost cover with water. Mix sugar w/enough water to completely cover ham. Cover and chill 48 hours. Drain. Line roasting pan with foil to wrap ham. Mix remaining ingredients. Pour over ham, wrap and bake at 200(f) for 6 to 7 hours.

You can also use a brown sugar and yellow mustard glaze. The amt depends on the size of the ham, but the mixture is 1/2 brown sugar 1/2 yellow mustard.

if you are slow cooking the ham, you can add strawberry pop to it when you put it in the slow cooker and it tastes soooo good..lol its not really a glaze but it makes the entire ham taste great. otherwise i know you can buy like a cherry-pineapple glaze at the grocery store. its pretty good too. you just baste the ham with it a few times. i hope i helped atleast a litle bit! good luck!!

Need ideas for Glaze for Ham...

This year I am preparing a Ham for Christmas dinner. I want some ideas and recipes for a nice glaze for the Ham. I have always used the pineapple rings on the Ham and really don't want to do that again.
Are there other glazes that really fit more for Christmas? Suggestions please.
Thanks in advance, MonaK
